Six Baskets Above The School! 2+ years

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Sep 22, 2012 Played the course:once

Pros:

This little six hole course is set on a lovely little wooded area above the Rockridge Secondary School in West Vancouver. The hilly terrain is ideal for disc golf with towering cedars, large boulders and lush native plants including plenty of ferns. There are a few signs, a few tee pads, six baskets but mostly you're just going on the local's braille system. The locals know the course and play it. Wood chips have been brought in and have covered up some of the tee boxes.
It's an enjoyable quick little throw. The holes were well designed.
IMO, # 5 is the signature hole. It's just 65', and has you throwing from the highest point on the course almost straight downhill to the basket below, just a fun little touch, ACE run.

Cons:

Once you get over the fact that it's ONLY six holes, you're left with a pretty nice little course here. It serves a purpose being the only course in West Vancouver and it actually has real baskets. There was a large group of 6-7 playing the course and enjoying the hell out of it.
Navigation would be sketchy even with only six holes. One of the locals pointed out the directions to me.
Playing the same six holes over and over would soon grow tedious and the challenge isn't there for even an average disc golfer.

Other Thoughts:

It's a nice entry level course. A great place to bring that newbie. Safari would be fun and I believe there's room to squeeze in nine baskets. Either way, you just have to accept little Rockridge DGC for what it is, a fun little practice course if you lived close on a lovely piece of land.
