SOLID entry level course! 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:May 10, 2015 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

-All 9 holes seem to fit nicely in the small space used.
-Flow from hole to hole is very smooth and fast.
-The course designer/s made good use of the pond for water hazards and O.B. surrounding field on several holes.
-Good use of elevation change on hole #9.
-Park is always mowed and clean.
-DGA tee signs on every hole.
This seems like a great course for players, new to the sport. The water hazards aren't too tough yet offer the intimidation factor they might experience at higher level courses.
With only two holes being over 350 feet, the over-all distance isn't overwhelming for a beginner and they offer a more experienced player to air it out a little and hole 9 puts in some slight elevation challenge while testing ones accuracy.

Cons:

-The 4x4 post marking the edge of tee pad can be a tripping hazard on any holes that need a run-up.
-Basket for 6 and tee pad for 7 seem too close together.
-Mach II baskets have portable bases that are staked to the ground. (vandalism/theft risk)
-Even though this is a clean park, they could use some more trash cans along the course.
-Would be nice to see a main course sign at the start with rules/big map/O.B. info but if you can find the 1st hole, you should be able to follow this course with ease.

Other Thoughts:

Depending on what you're looking for in a course, this isn't a bad one at all. The majority of it is short 200-300 footers with a couple 350-400 foot holes. I never had to get my wide-rim drivers out of the bag but it was a great place to work on those long putter/mid-range shots. The wind seemed to be the biggest challenge, being right on the outside of town. For a beginner the water hazards might be a challenge but an intermediate player shouldn't have any trouble getting over the water. Most water hazards are short and right off the tee box with a large area on the other side to land on.
This course offers a few opportunities for ace runs on holes 2 & 3 which are fun with the basket placements around the trees and pond.
I would rate it a 3 if the baskets were mounted solid/level and something better was done with the tee pad markers but coming from an advanced player, the fun factor doesn't last long after a couple rounds so 3 is probably as high as I'd ever rate this course. Don't get me wrong, this place seems great for beginners and/or lower powered arms.
If you're a beginner or In town and need to scratch your disc golf itch, this is a great place to play!
