Hitting the gap is the most important part of this hole, but after that it is about staying on the trail to have decent footing and to maintain a workable angle for the birdie. I have as much luck going Fairway, Putter, Putter as I do with Putter, Fairway, Putter

This is a monster par 3, potentially one of the hardest in Oregon, and a common source of contention about this course. The biggest task off the tee is to simply get as far up the fairway as possible. Even experienced players will benefit from staying humble and just trying to thread a putter 180-200 feet up the fairway to set up for another very tight shot to the green. Any strong power drives risk ricocheting far into the dense trees on the right or left side of the fairway, opening the possibility of a 5 right off the bat.
