Long, Mixed Field and Forest Course With Elevation 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Oct 29, 2021 Played the course:once

Pros:

- Overall a great addition to the PEI disc golf scene. Really like that it has some wide open long holes to go full out on in addition to the forested section of the course. Still new as a course, and I'm looking forward to seeing how this course continues to improve over the coming years.

- Relatively easy to navigate course once you get to first hole.

- Opportunities to throw some long bombs

- Well designed course, with a few open holes but some definite variety and mixture of distances.

- Lots of elevation change throughout the course, which means it's also a bit of a hike, with some walking between holes.

- Beautiful location in the PEI countryside

- Brand new, clearly visible baskets.

Cons:

- Course is still relatively new and rugged so a fair bit of shrapnel and uneven ground in the forested holes. Couple of small trees that weren't cut flush to the ground, relatively minor, but stuff that will likely get cleaned up over time.

- Finding first hole without uDisc app from parking lot might be confusing to some people.

- No course map at entrance and signage is basic, though well designed

- Tee pads too short for a long bomb course

- Only one set of tees is a con for new / recreational players. This is a LOT of course for a new player.

- Played it late October so minimal bugs, but like all other PEI courses, I'd be bringing bug spray with me in milder weather.

Other Thoughts:

- $10 per person to play (which is normal on PEI. As an aside, it's interesting how pay-to-play is almost non-existent in the rest of Canada outside of ball golf courses but the three major disc golf courses on PEI are all pay-to-play)

- Tee pad materials are generally okay, but inconsistent, some are fake turf, some stone. Although the shortness of them is a con given the length of the holes, the materials themselves are better than just the ground.

- Really enjoyed how the course starts with open field shots, goes into the forest, then finishes back up with open shots.

- Rewards big arms moreso than it does technical throwers, compared with nearby Hillcrest and Huck It.

- Not the most cart-friendly course in the world, but doable.

- Not recommend for people with mobility issues or uneasy on their feet.

- I saw a couple of reviews that said it's easy to lose discs, which in some ways long courses always are more prone to, but I found the it relatively easy to find discs outside of a couple of select spots in spite of the fact that not much underbrush has been cleared.

- No washrooms, don't believe there were garbages, so it's a pack-in / pack-out.
