Easy Breezy Beautiful 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Sep 4, 2017 Played the course:once

Pros:

A shorter more recreational type course with some water hazards and scenic mature trees. Fantastic concrete tees with adequate signing. Very fun course and a quick play with easy navigation. Well maintained and with plenty of benches for taking a break on. Enough challenge to make it interesting and the real water hazards add an element of danger. One tee and one basket per hole keeps it simple.

Cons:

Not too much to complain about here. It may be on the short side, but so what. Every course doesn't have to be 9000' does it?

Are you looking for the hole 17 basket? Turn around and look towards the building. For some reason the tee sign on 17 faces the wrong way.

Other Thoughts:

A solid rec style course that would make a good everyday thrower and a great course to stretch your legs on if driving by on I-75.

Risk/Reward & Ace Runs 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Oct 6, 2016 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

This is a fun little course. It's obviously tailored toward beginners, but advanced players will enjoy the challenge. Just about every hole is a potential Ace Run, but if you don't make it, you'll find yourself struggling to get back for par. It offers a fair variety of shots and can be played with mostly Mids/Putters. A few holes require a driver, but not many.

Cons:

It's a short course, but its short enough to really get a few rounds in at a time. The water is grimy and not fun to retrieve discs out of, but otherwise the course is fairly simple. It's really easy to follow and play, but difficult to master.

Great and my home course 2+ years

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:May 12, 2014 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Hole 1: Straightforward ~200 foot hole. Literally any shot will work. I usually backhand but have forehanded with success and overhanded an ace once. Only notes are that horseshoe area, basketball courts and parking lot are OB. Aced this hole twice, once backhand and once with a tomahawk.

Hole 2: Long (for Rozar) almost 300 foot hole with big trees on left and an OB fenced in area on the right. If you throw one over the fence on the left, easiest way to retrieve is to go into the baseball field on hole 1 and hop the fence in left center field.

Hole 3: Short hole with a couple trees as obstacles. This is the easiest hole on the course in my opinion and according to my stats.

Hole 4: Short but slightly technical. Few trees in the way. Green plays fast on the left side.

Hole 5: 2nd hardest hole out here. 300+ foot slightly uphill straight shot. Water on the right and big trees/fence on the left. My least birdied hole all time at Rozar.

Hole 6: One of my favorites. Moderately wooded, fenced in graveyard area on the right. Almost any shot will work here. Green is sloped.

Hole 7: Short, blind putter shot with tree right in front of basket. Past tree, hole slopes down to the water. Easy birdie usually.

Hole 8: Short straight shot but has grouping of trees in front of basket. Almost any shot will work here if executed well.

Hole 9: Straightforward hole with one large tree in the middle. Ace hole for me with a forehand.

Hole 10: Almost the same as hole 9 but the tree in the middle is 20 foot off the teebox. Fenced in area on the right side (same one from hole 2) and bathroom building long left.

Hole 11: Short but basket is on hill that banks the pond. Easy to go in the water here. Green is very sloped. Pavilion is on the right.

Hole 12: Shortest and probably most aced hole at Rozar. Should be a par 2.

Hole 13: Hardest hole on the course. Very wooded. Green also sloped. Water on left side.

Hole 14: Another short and blind shot. Hole is on sloped green with water on left/long.

Hole 15: This one is over a small creek/waterway that feeds the pond. There is a bridge on the left and a small inlet near the basket. There is a fence if you throw long.

Hole 16: Back over the creek with pond/bridge on right. Basket has a couple trees behind it.

Hole 17:
Most uphill hole out here. Rec center building long and left of basket. Picnic bench short right is also in play.

Hole 18: A couple trees near basket. Entire hole has a slope especially the green. Road is on the right and water is long.

The main pros here are the high ace probability, beginner friendliness and the speed you can play 18 holes here. I tore my ACL and meniscus and played here for months on one leg throwing forehands (normally an MA1 RHBH dominant player) and still averaged -4 or -5 under.

Main difficulty for the course is the water hazards and sloped greens. Rollaways are very common here.

Bathroom after hole 10. Water spigot/hose after hole 1.

Tee boxes are nice concrete and flat.

There is some nature here that is quite beautiful.

Cons:

Layout isn't the best from 15-18. 15 and 16 kind of have a similar fairway and drives on 17 can easily end up on 16's green or 15's tee. Drives on 18 can hit people on 17s tee pad as well.

Park goers are often in the way. Lots of people fishing the ponds in warm weather. Sometimes there is yoga near hole 4. Youth soccer games in fenced in area in Winter/Fall that is near hole 2 and 10. Horsehoe throwers near hole 1 on Monday evenings. Basketball courts can be crowded too sometimes but usually isn't. Sometimes there will be people on the bridge on hole 15 as it is a popular spot for pictures/walking.

Tee signs were obviously made by someone who doesn't play. Lists several holes as par 4s. Everyone I know plays all these holes as 3s. Baskets also moved positions a bit when new Prodigy baskets were installed so the distances on the signs are not accurate.

Baskets are the worst permanent ones I have EVER played on. Blue Prodigy baskets with single layer chains. Spit outs are very common and hitting chains too high can also shoot your putter out on a dead center putt. These baskets are not tournament/league worthy in my opinion. There used to be DGA baskets but they were replaced a few years ago. Have played almost 200 courses as of this revision and have never seen these anywhere else. Basket on hole 10 has electrical tape holding a ring/chains in place (Doesn't affect play at all but is not ideal).

There is also commonly people playing here that never have before or are MA4/beginner level players. Often I have been stuck behind groups that are oblivious to letting solo/small groups play through or don't know any disc golf etiquette simply because they are rude or just don't know.

Pros will not enjoy this course I don't think, although they may like the short ace runs.

Other Thoughts:

This is my first revision to my initial review, which was a poor effort. This is my home course and I have put in over 300 rounds here. Takes about 45 min solo and maybe 1.5 hr when busy or with a group of 3-5. Great for practice, beginners, and is worth the round in my opinion no matter the player. I have yet to see anyone on PDGA.com or udisc to have a -18 round. My personal best is -15. Club for Houston County is awesome with returning discs/being active on the Facebook group. I also personally know at least 2 people that regularly dive/search for discs in the water here. Leagues are held here in Fall/Spring. Birdie Bash is a am only C-Tier that is held every October and is a great first PDGA tournament for new players. Tournament runs on one of the same weekends as the GNFA usually.
