(2.477 Rating) The best and worst 14 hole course you'll ever play.
- SKILL LEVEL FRIENDLY - IMO, the perfect difficulty for a University setting. Neither a true Beginner's course or an Advanced beast. The hole distances, and somewhat open lines, appear to be Recreational level, but since many baskets are extremely well guarded, it will take an Intermediate level skill set to routinely finish 3 or 4 down. Those of us between an 800 to 930 player rating should be pleased by the many looks at a birdie and still having to work for it. I estimate that even par would net a 900 rated round for a non-local.
- UNIQUENESS - I enjoyed the mix of shots. A few small ups and a couple small downs. A couple moderate tunnels, yet also a few open plays. Holes bend both ways and there are some well defined pockets to hit. A very small creek comes into play on 3 or 4 holes of which hole (5) is a gutsy clear with the basket just on the other side. I do wish that the hole length variety was greater than low two hundred to low 400 hundreds. Also, there are no par 4s and the heavy woods could have been used more effectively.
- TEES - 4 by 12 concrete pads
- CHAINS - Hooray for DISCatchers.
- NAVIGATION - I had a guide for this one so I wasn't paying too close of attention. There is a course map near tee (1) and its accurate. The tee signs are simple, but effective enough. No next tee direction on the tee signs and I don't recall any navigational cues other than Cerealman telling me where to go after each inquiry.
- QUICK PLAY - Less than one hour for my threesome. I figure its 35 to 40 minutes for a quick course bagger.
- MAINTENANCE - Seems to be well maintained with all the fairways reasonably mowed on my appearance. Off fairway was brutal in spots, but that's typically at many courses.

Who plays 14 holes?
- SAFETY HAZARDS - Several holes play around ball fields or walking paths. I could see some issues if the fields were in use for tournaments. If that's the case, players may need to wait or skip a couple holes. Also, fairways (1) and (2) cross. I've never been a fan of that.
- 14 HOLES - What an odd number. 392 courses in and this is my first course with 14 baskets. Seems like there's enough adjacent woods left over for an additional four holes.
- OVERGROWTH - Whoa. Yes this course is very open on several holes, but man, straying off into the sun bleached fairway edges can be a nightmare. Looks like there is some poison ivy in there.
- DISCONTINUITY - A big gap between (5) and (6) and also (10) to (11). Players will need a map first go around. Be sure and snap a picture of the map near tee (1)
- CHARACTER - The basics are fine, but there are hardly any extra disc golf related items. No multi-tees or alternate basket placements. I don't recall any seating and tee shading was less than 50 percent. There is a practice basket however.

I got to throw my first round here with two other course baggers, GMcAtee and Cerealman. Between us, we had bagged a combined 1058 courses before teeing off. It's not surprising to note that this was three-man quickie. Baggers are always straight to the point As for the course, I liked it, and I personally was not expecting the course to be as good as it was. Having bagged much of the Chattanooga area now, I'd put this course as the fourth best in the area and it's a worthy spin for those spending a whole day in town to bag courses. Hopefully the school adds another 4 holes to layout. An addition of four holes in the heavy woods could take this course to a 3 disc rating in my books.
- NATURAL BEAUTY - I scored the course beauty in the middle of all courses I've played. Too many park style shots. There are some very good looking holes but none are mind altering. The most striking tee shot should be (9), but it's got a shed just left of the direct line. (9) is the only hole that plunges into the wonderful older heavily wooded canopy. It's a shame that this tranquil landscape was not intertwined more into the layout.

Good luck finding your disc if you throw it in the woods, super thick brush.
Course holds quite a bit of water in some areas.
Very thick grass, which holds a ton of water. (my shoes were soaked)
Scenery isn't that great

This is a nice course to go and throw around on once and a while for a good challenge or to practice certain shots, but overall I would just consider it average. I would recommend this course for people looking to just have fun, and aren't worried about losing a disc.

Well its a disc golf course so thats definately a pro! Now about the course....I will have to say that I was rather surprised that a college campus would dedicate this much property to a disc golf course.... the course is fun but not too difficult so anyone could play it... lthough its only fourteen holes they are a good fourteen holes ranging from 250 to 450 feet long and go from open field to over the creek shots and even some woods holes... I liked how some of the brush was cut out to place pins...very well hidden but definitely birdieable with a great shot!

The baseball field construction has 3 of the holes 6 7 and 8 cut out but they are still playable...meaning the signs and tee pads are there just no baskets....I still played the wholes and threw to where the baskets would be as shown on the tee signs...

Worth taking an hour or so and playing if youre driving through!

beautiful area! nice view. and lot of variety of shot required. mostly LH anzyher.
hole 1 go uphill on little left in front of fence
hole 2 go downhill but use backhand if plan throw LH anzyher. the basket is hide in right side. cant see it from teepad.
hole 3 and 4 same design, throw straight then sharp right at end. hole 5 straight ahead but beward, 2 big trees in between and have to across the creek .
hole 6 to 9 is closed due to construction.. even though posted july 26 and said for 2 weeks. well played on august 22, almost month yet not open. hole 10 straight ahead but avoid trees if possible.
hole 11 342 feet but the basket is way ahead right. throw straight toward fence then turn right then throw to end corner of shed and baseball field.
hole 12 is easy one of all. throw straight but thru bigh tree.
hole 13 is brutal bec over 400 feet. it said par 3 but it deserve a par 4. then last hole 14 is straight ahead and slightly right. avoid the tree in front u on ur right.

hole 1 and hole 2 conflict if 2 groups of disc golfer playing, and construction in way and seems wont finished soon. disappoint not play hole 6 to 9. no bathroom if ur visitors.

overall nice to play and relax. i lives abt 45 min from there so i will go if i m with group

Nice tee signs and pads. Solid baskets. Nice design with the area they had to work with. Lots of variety. Good mix of short/long/tight/open. Helpful locals. Very scenic campus.

Kind of hard to find.

Lots of other people on course. Shot hard in the rough on 2 trying to avoid 2 people laying in the fairway. An unavoidable problem and not a big deal really. I enjoyed this course but probably won't make a special trip to come back.

Enjoyed it though the temp hit 100 while I was there...being from Florida that was not too bad. The hills did make it challenging for me. I met several students pruning and keeping the area immaculate. The greens are very wide open.

Fairways are well-kept.
Baskets are nice.

Though many of the shots are straight-on tunnel shots, the rough is very punishing. Lots of underbrush, low-hanging branches and some pricker vines. I lost a disc that landed only a couple feet into the rough.

Signs for each hole are cemented 6" into corner of the tee box, which creates some very awkward steps into the toss.

The course weaves in and out of a number of heavily used tennis courts, soccer fields, a baseball diamond, some walking paths and a running track.
For some reason, they decided to place a picnic table next to a couple of the pins. So if there are any students out and about, you may find yourself skipping some holes to avoid them.
I ended up chasing a couple around the last 5 holes of the course, as they moved from bench to bench to avoid me.

...very awkward.

Be careful on hole 8. The rough off to the right has some rusty barbed wire hiding in the brush.

* Beautiful setting with good use of available resources
* Several wide open holes with a few in the woods
* Usually not crowded
* New INNOVA baskets

* No teepads
* Course tricky to navigate for first-timers
* The fairway for Hole #1 is in between the tennis courts, so be careful throwing if the courts are in use!
* The brush / woods on Holes #2-4 contain some thornbushes and are pretty difficult to manage if your disc goes in there. Wear long pants if you tend to veer off course.

***** UPDATE (7-17-09) ******

* Plans are being made to put in teepads with signs in the near future. There is also the potential for additional holes in the near future.

* The disc golf course is not for student or faculty use only as the above post says -- those signs apply to use of the tennis courts.

* The course is not closed on Saturday.

* If you found well-worn dirt spots, you are probably in the correct location of the "teepads"

A quick analysis of the holes:

Hole One: Tee is on the sidewalk at the corner of the tennis court. The basket resides on a hill, which makes "going for" any putt longer than 20 feet an adventure, as your disc could easily roll down the hill. It's advised to throw your drive below the basket. I hate playing like a sissy and laying up for par, but I usually regret my decision to go for the birdie if I'm too far away.

Hole Two: A huge anhyzer required to get to the basket. Avoid the woods / shrubbery on the right at all costs -- hit the deep stuff on your drive and you can expect a bogey. The basket is located on a nice flat area.

Hole Three: Another anhyzer required to get near the basket. Beware of the brush on the right side of the fairway. Also, watch out for the stream located just beyond the basket.

Hole Four: Tee located alongside the tennis courts. Another anhyzer required to reach the mouth of the opening in the woods. While the hole isn't too long, an accurate drive is essential to have a shot at birdie.

Hole Five: One of the best holes on the course. Trees guard the basket, which is located just past the stream. Birdie is possible if you keep your disc dry.

Hole Six: Tee is a short walk from the basket on #5 -- location is beyond the center field fence of the nearby softball field. Aim right with your hyzer and make sure your drive doesn't go left.

Hole Seven: One of the shorter holes on the course isn't a gimme. Hitting the entrance into the woods necessary to make par. The area behind the basket is guarded by trees and a hill, so there's low risk for being aggressive on your putt if you keep it straight.

Hole Eight: Most likely hole for birdie. Avoid the trees on the left and the woods on the right and you're sitting pretty.

Hole Nine: Longest hole on the course. Keep your drive in the fairway and you're fine.
