Great Course For Many Skillsets 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Oct 22, 2017 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Sawyer-Ludwig has a great mix of wooded technical holes(back 9) and longer open holes with mature trees(front 9). Trash cans and benches on most holes. Nice quiet park atmosphere and plenty of parking near the front and back nine. The course flows very well without signage but has it just in case you get confused. The local organized group hosts doubles most Sundays and also occasional tournaments. The same group does a great job maintaining the course and keeps it in almost perfect condition. The front nine ends close to the parking area as well as a back nine giving you the option to play either. Course uses creeks and paths as OB and uses shule as a great natural OB to punish bad shots without adding penalty strokes. Has at least two tees on every hole and also has many alternative basket locations as well. The tee signs show distances for the short basket locations. Holes 3 and 4 have large downhill shots other than that most everything else just slightly changes in elevation. On hole two an elevated platform was recently added making what was once one of the easiest holes into a more challenging one.

Cons:

Their are not many cons to this course in my opinion but no course is perfect.
1) Tee signs only show distances and locations of short baskets
2) Many spots on this course that make discs disappear
3) The back nine is very difficult if you are a beginner or novice
4) Tee pads are a little short
5) If you like large elevation changes you'll be disappointed
6) Occasional trains try to razz you on the first two holes

Other Thoughts:

Overall the course is one of my favorites and is a good place to play at many different skill levels. The front nine is far easier than the back nine but both are challenging in their own way.
