A Failure To Communicate 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:May 26, 2019 Played the course:once

Pros:

(0.539 Rating) A course heading for tombstone status.
- QUICK PLAY - I think I spent 25 minutes here. I half wondered around and half played. I now realize from further research, that I threw more of a safari round than the correct layout. Only 7 baskets were in position on my appearance as a new parking lot and access road was built where baskets (5) and (7) use to be.

This concludes the pros segment.

Cons:

It's sad that this course went downhill so fast.
- NAVIGATION - Nothing is numbered. Not baskets. Not tees. There are no directional cues either. The course was half overgrown, and I played 3 safari holes before realizing there were colored stakes peeking through the tall grasses. Walking around here was a nightmare.
- MAINTENANCE - two thirds of the layout had not been mowed yet in 2019. I showed up in late May!
- CHAINS - Two damaged baskets and two missing baskets. In addition, the baskets are Mach IIs.
- CHARACTER - Take 1% of the bountiful riches of the nearby Admiral course, and this course would be light years better. Natural tees, no signage, no seating, no map, no everything.
- UNIQUENESS - As flat as a pancake. Figure on a bunch of safari distances due to missing markers. It felt like a short course. Maybe 350 feet max on any one hole. The course plays threw pines and a couple small meadows. Overall very bland.
- NATURAL BEAUTY - Actually this is one of the better aspects but it's still below average. Monotonous backdrop and feel. On the flipside, no major eyesores and the surrounding school buildings are of high quality.
- LACK OF CHALLENGE - After researching the correct layout, I'd say that the difficulty here is most closely aligned to the lower Recreational level. Some modest power and technique is required.

Other Thoughts:

For anyone that's ever wanted to quickly see what I consider a top 5% and a bottom 5% course, they could just visit the city of Semmes Alabama. It's truly sad what's become of this course since the previous review. If you are an extreme necro course bagger, now is the appropriate time to head here. The coffin is about to be tipped over and dumped into the hole.
