Pros:
-Good use of elevation, although there is a missed opportunity for a true bomber of a hole.
-Decent length for a city course
-There are signs at each hole that at least somewhat describe the shape of the hole
-Bathrooms are on site
-Not really a straight up par 3 like many city courses are. Some may disagree, but you'd have to be awfully good to throw a 27 here.
-Nice DiscCatcher baskets in pretty good shape.
Cons:
-It was incredibly windy making putting extremely challenging, and from what I've read and experienced from my time in Sioux City is that would be common at this course.
-There was some garbage around the course as there are no trash receptacles anywhere.
-Aforementioned bathrooms were locked when I was there, I assume they open a little later into the spring.
-The basket for the 9th hole was nowhere to be found...
Other Thoughts:
This is pretty nice for a typical city course. There aren't any super short and/or easy holes. There is good use of elevation, although I do feel it could've been used a bit more, as there is one hole that is straight up the hill at least 150', but that's really about it. There is a big time missed opportunity for a straight down the hill, bombs away, fun type of hole. Everybody loves those and this would've been perfect for it. Oh well. I would've enjoyed the course even more than I did, but the wind was terrible and I don't think that's uncommon for this course. It's on the top of a hill without much in the way of buildings or trees to lessen the wind gusts. Other reviews also have stated wind to be a factor here, so I can't help but think that it's almost always the case here. Keep that in mind as it makes putting from any distance very challenging. Also, I don't know if I just couldn't find it or what, but the 9th basket was nowhere to be found. I ended up just using the 1st basket to finish out, as it was near where I would've expected the 9th one to be. All in all, this is a pretty decent city course and with a few tweaks could really be a destination.
