Pros:

Seven Oaks features nine holes of very short, moderately wooded golf. The park is multiuse but the disc golf course stays away from all the other park activities, minus a sidewalk that could come into play on a few holes.

The course is nicely designed for beginners and those wanting short game practice or just leisurely ace running some holes. The flow of the course is about as easy as you'll ever find. All holes are visable from one another. The only exception is hole 8 which is just across the bridge. It won't take more than 15, maybe 20, minutes to play a round here.

There are a few trees in play on every hole. Makes you have to think a little at least. But honestly this course is as easy as they come. No elevation to speak of but that's fine for a beginner level course such as this.

The baskets are Discatchers which are in good condition and catch fine. Concrete tee pads on each hole as well. Not the biggest by any means, but perfectly serviceable for the lengths you'll encounter out here.

The tee signs have all the basic info needed. Ad mentioned above, you can see almost every other hole from the prior one anyway. The signs have a basic hole map, hole #, par and distance. So very nice amenities for such a small course.

The course is permanent and free to play. Probably not the busiest place either.

Cons:

The walk from the parking lot and back will take damn near as long as it will to actually play the course. I kid obviously, but the course starts on the north side of the playground you see when leaving the parking lot.

Pretty redundant course. No holes really stick out. Hole 8 across the bridge was probably the "signature" hole. That or hole 5 which is by far the longest hole on the course.

The walking path that runs through the course can come into play a few times. If you pay attention and play smart it shouldn't be an issue. Not everyone pays attention or plays smart though.

The course can be a bit swampy in places after it rains. Nothing too bad, but worth noting after the rains the couple days before we played it.

Other Thoughts:

The course is what it is. Not worth any type of effort to go out of your way for obviously. But also worth a visit if you're anywhere nearby. For a course bagger like myself this type of course is always a welcome site.

Decent little warm up course if you're headed to any of the other bigger courses in the area. Good amenities, clean park. I'd play it quite a bit if I lived nearby tbh. I'd have a lot more aces than I currently do too.

Total Eclipse of the 9th Hole 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 21, 2017 Played the course:once

Pros:

Layout - Seven Oaks is primarily a park style course designed for beginners, youth and families.

Most of the holes are on the shorter side of 200' and feels more like shooting upshots than teeing off. There is one longer hole sitting at 275'. Plenty of Ace runs.

Primarily most of the obstacles (if they hole has them) come right off the tee or by the basket. It forces you to choose a hyzer/anny approach without having many fairway defining trees.

I played with my 7yo son and I think this is a really good course for youth to play on. I could tell he was having to make that decision on how to come in to the green. The holes are just the right length for him to get a deuce if he plays it right.

Equipment - Concrete pads and the baskets are in good shape. Tee signs list the distance.

Atmosphere - The course is in a nice area of the park, a good bit of it is shaded by larger sparse trees. If the holes weren't so short it would seem crammed in but it works well for what they were going for. The area is clean and well maintained so it's a solid place to bring the kids and teach them the game.

My son loved Hole 8 because you cross a short bridge over a creek to play it. It felt like a secret area to him.

Cons:

Layout - If you have any bit of experience playing disc golf and and you're not under 10 years old this is probably not the course for you. The holes are all short and you are pretty much guaranteed a putt on every hole.

Half of the holes are fairly wide open with no obstacles.

Equipment - Maybe something near the parking area pointing towards the course. It's not far but we did have to stop and think about it for a second.

Atmosphere - This is a multi use park and I can see people possibly being ignorant to the course and hanging out under the shady trees. It was going on when we were there.

Other Thoughts:

This is where we watched the great eclipse of 2017. I actually didn't know there was a course there until we got there. There was a gathering of folk who set up shop on Hole 9 so we had to improvise that one from a temp tee. Sweet little course and I'll honestly never forget that round due to the eclipse.

I'm not giving it a 1.5 because I think it's bad. I just think that's the ceiling for a course such as this. It's actually one of the better courses I've seen which targets youth/families.
