Pros:

Fun layout and a great mix of holes with multiple lines for every player.

Cons:

Tough to play in autumn when the leaves fall... but that's not the courses fault. Play white or bright green discs.
Directional signage to a few holes is hard to find. UDisc mapping is accurate.

Great for intermediate players! 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Apr 17, 2018 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Seven Hills is an excellent course. There is a good mix of holes that are wide-open grass fairways, and technically challenging wooded holes. It seems pretty neutral between right and left handed players. Most holes are fairly straight ahead from the tee box.

Hole 1 starts with a mando on either side of a swampy tree area. Do everything possible to keep your disc out of that area, because it's a muddy mess. Fairly easy to approach the hole in two, very easy to par. An orange hole was just added beyond the grey one if you prefer a longer distance.

Hole 2 is wide open. Hole is straight ahead.

Hole 3 has a small knoll in front of the tee. The hole is around the trees in the middle of the fairway. An orange hole was just added beyond the grey one if you prefer a longer distance.

Hole 4 curves to the left slightly. Better to throw a little left than to end up in the trees straight ahead. An orange hole was just added but is very close to the grey one. Not sure why they have two holes here.

Hole 5 is the first wooded hole. It's a challenge to throw over the hill. I prefer the left tee pad with the turf on it - it's a better angle to avoid hitting trees. Hole is up the hill and to the left a little.

Hole 6 is not just above hole 5, there is an abandoned tee pad there. Walk down the hill to the hole 6 tee pad. If you have a longer drive, this one might be easy to ace. Throw straight ahead.

Hole 7 is around the wooden wall from 6. This is where the course design starts to lose its direction. Hole is far ahead and to the right a little bit.

Hole 8 is extremely confusing. The holes are about 300 feet up, and then very hard right. There is a grey and orange hole. There is also a blue hole but that is for hole 17.

Hole 9 is hard to find. You basically have to walk through 17's fairway. Walk down to the creek and look for the benches on the right. Hole is straight and a little left. Very easy to get in 2 throws.

Hole 10 is to the right. Usually I skip 10-16 and turn back around to 17.

Hole 17 is straight ahead but there are many trees that make for a narrow fairway. Grey and blue holes, but fairly close together.

Hole 18 is to the right of 17's basket. It's a longer hole, wide open grass area past the tee pad. If you've got a long drive, now's your time to shine. An orange basket is on the left, grey is on the right and past the creek.

Cons:

This course is fairly busy at all hours of the day. Saturdays are practically unplayable. More groups than individual players. There are benches at every hole if you don't mind waiting. There are cut-through trails if you want to jump ahead.

The layout of the holes isn't very intuitive and it takes a few times to learn where the tee box of the next hole is.

Tee boxes are rather small. They are paved, but surrounded by gravel which is easy to slip on. Hole 2's tee box especially is downhill into gravel, very easy to slip. Usually I just throw from the grass to the right of the tee box. I would prefer if the tee boxes were longer, level with the ground, and surrounded by grass instead of gravel.

Other Thoughts:

It's a great course to play. Even though it is busy, everyone is very friendly. Players of all levels can enjoy playing here. I highly recommend it, especially to anyone visiting Nashville.

Nashville Disc Golf Store is also very close by in case you need some new discs!

Great course with a great mix of a few open holes and a lot of heavily wooded, shaded holes. Benches every hole and not that busy on a weekday.

Cons:

A sign at the front of the course would be nice for new players. Not the longest course.

Other Thoughts:

One of the nicest courses I've played.

Pros:

This course is my home course i would say I have played it well over 300 times. The varied shots you have to throw make it one of my favorites. There are some wide open holes but its not a straight hang it long types of holes. There is always a tree or 50 trees in the way at some point in the hole.

As a rhbh player at about 350 and rhfh with about 250 -300 range i find uses for almost every shot at my disposal. People complain because it has tight lines in the woods, but that's disc golf to me.

Always alot of people easy to pick up in a group.

Great local group keeps this city course in tip top shape.

FREDDY!!! - local course expert and hacky sack maker :D

Newly installed 3 basket area near 10 for putting.

Cons:

Too many people. I don't mind waiting but sometimes there are families that like to stroll through doing cartwheels on hole 2 .

For some players having smokers/drinkers people having a good time bother them, but i say to each their own.

Other Thoughts:

I have played about 100 courses and this is in my top 10 for sure. I live close to cedar hill in Nashville and love that course as well, but for me this is the best course in Nashville area with Smyrna and cedar hill 2 or 3 depending on the day.

If you get out early and play on a weekday this course is fun and challenging at the same time.

Heaven at Seven Oaks 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:May 26, 2014 Played the course:once

Pros:

Seven Oaks is a nice park in a residential area between I-40 and I-24 in Nashville. The park was pretty easy to find off the interstate.

The very first thing that I noticed when arriving at the disc golf course were the NEON colored Mach baskets. They were in great shape and we didn't have a catching issue the entire round.

There are multiple pin placements on each of the holes and the current pin position is noted on the hole signs.

Most of the signs were in decent shape and did give a pretty accurate description of the hole and terrain.

I was very impressed with the holes themselves. There was a very good mix of distances and variations in uphill and downhill shots. The course also did a very nice job of forcing you to work you disc on a hyzer or anny to get near the basket.

There was a TON of work done by using Timbers and logs to built selves to make it much easier to walk and play this course. The course also used mulch in many places to control the mud and adds to the easy of play on the course.

There are only a couple of easy holes on this course, but it didn't feel like the course was beating you us either. The fun factor of this course was off the charts for me. Our group had and awesome time and we WILL play this course again.

There were benches and tables/spools on most of the holes that can come in handy on busy days.

Holes that stuck out to me....
Hole 5- it was an up and over the hill shot in the 330 ft range thru a tight window. The terrain around the basket sloped off hard from right to left.

Hole 8- played as a hard sweeping turn backhand to a guarded basket. A well thrown disc could make a duece but the line is tight.

Hole 14- There were so many different ways this hole could be set up. We walked all the way back to the tips and decided against it. It was tough enough from the next tee.

Hole 15- Was a nice tight dead straight hole. I really liked the view of this hole from the tee.

I am not being critical by saying this, but the pictures of the course on this site don't do it justice at the present time. The course looks MUCH MUCH better now than in those photos. I was SO impressed by the maint. done on the course.

Cons:

If you are a big arm, you will have to wait until hole 18 to air it out some. (better turn it.. but not too much)

The pad are nice size, but I found a couple of them to be a little slick.

Other Thoughts:

"If you built it... he will come" !! There is a reason why Seven Oaks is always busy. This is an awesome course to play. You are forced to work the disc both ways and handle elevation changes while playing through some pretty dense woods. Stop and play here... you won't regret it.

Great lay out, neutral, doesn't favor right or left handed people
super good use of the landscape, hills, trees.
Benches and tables on every tee
Lots of privacy
Super awesome doubles league!
There is even a seasonal "disc bum" who dwells around, makes sure no one breaks in your car, and can tell you if they moved the pins.

Cons:

nothing major to say....
No "disc fearing" holes
Or water hazards, and O.B.'s...

Other Thoughts:

I know that some people(where I live) don't like the reviews I give.... Well, take a trip to Nashville. I compare courses to the whole world, not just my locality. Obviously, with Nashville's 3 to 4 different disc golf clubs, plethora of great courses... Its sad to say but Cincinnati is lacking behind

7th Heaven . . . the disc golf not the crappy somehwhat religious tv show 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Jan 29, 2012 Played the course:once

Pros:

1) Nice signs with Hole #, distance, map and next tees indicated.

2) Mach baskets with number plates facing the tees are always helpful to the travelling disc golfer like myself.

3) Benches in many places on this course for you to sit . . . a welcome thing to see on a really busy course.

4) Mulch and stone was used well to keep mud from being prevalent in tee and green areas and high traffic fairways.

5) Timbers and logs were used to create level areas through many of the wooded holes. These areas were filled and leveled with mulch also.

6) An interesting feature on this course was the limestone on #15. I did not expect to see that on this course.

7) Logs were used to line fairways in many places which again helps define fairways for the travelling disc golfer.

8) Challenge is high on this course with all of the tight wooded fairways. I always prefer to be challenged as opposed to just dominating a wide open easy course.

9) There are a good number of different and unique holes out here which keeps this course fun. You really do not play any holes that feel like other holes on this entire property.

10) Nice use of elevation . . . including in the woods. Although subtle change is all that is present it definitely affects the throws.

11) Large industrial wire spools perfect for resting your bag on them while you sit on the bench as intended.

12) There is a sign at the kiosk that says all of the course maintenance is done by the local club . . . which means they have done a tremendous amount of volunteer work. That course is clean, well landscaped, plenty of the special things that make it cool, and the amenities to make it comfortable feeling.

13) The locals were very helpful and very inviting to join the leagues . . . I think they thought we were locals but two of the groups let us play through because we were so much faster . . . I think it helped that I parked one of the harder holes right behind them so they thought I was a great player.

14) Multiple pin positions on most if not all holes. Makes for a different course all the time which is awesome for the local players.

15) The creek running through the course comes into play a couple times. Hole #14, Hole #17 and Hole #18. . .while not a terrible obstacle it still is a cool feature on the course.

16) Pin placement markers included here much like Cedar Hill. This is greatly appreciated by the travelling disc golfer such as myself.

Cons:

1) Dangerous areas on a couple tees like the downhill hole#6 with the next tee immediately to the left of any tee shot that cuts out too quickly. Then again on the 10th hole where the tee is on the edge of the woods and a roller or turnovers are the shots of choice on # 18 which takes the drive right over towards that tee. Hole #17 is also right alongside a tight turning fairway on #8. Be careful on those two holes too.

2) Not enough distance variation to be considered the ultimate in design in my opinion. Most holes are in the upper 100's to the middle 200's with only a couple holes lying outside that range. This is where typical par 3 disc golf began and this course has been around for over 20 years so I can understand the design, but I like to see more variation on a course.

3) VERY VERY VERY BUSY . . . normally this is good to see but not for the travelling disc golfer with a limited amount of time to stay on schedule with other activities. We got done quickly enough to still do everything but for a minute I thought we would be walking off the course at some point because we got caught in the midst of a handicap weekly I guess. This is apparently the busiest of all the local courses.

4) The baskets are pretty old and inner chains have been attached using some type of U Bolt setup. They seemed to catch find but maybe I was just on that day. I did notice some of the trays seemed to be a little shallow though, so a disc could more easily go in and come back out than some of the newer style baskets with deeper trays. Being DGA's they are also very tough to spot in a tight wooded course such as this course.

Other Thoughts:

All in all this is a great course. Despite its fairly short overall length it challenges throughout and that is something that stands the test of time. Designed many years ago when everything was a par 3, this would have been an extremely challenging course. There are so many chances to hit a tree and end up with a bogey or worse so when you do get a birdie you really appreciate it. I happened to birdie two pretty tough holes and I felt like saying "man am I good". The rest of the holes were typically tap in pars after decent upshots but I did make a couple bogies too.

Fun and technical 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Oct 5, 2009 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Variety of holes in the open and wooded. The wooded holes are sure to provide a challenge, but you shouldn't lose a disc. Players are friendly. If you go by yourself you can usually play a couple of extra discs each throw.

Cons:

Very busy so try to play in the off-peak hours. There is a guy that always hangs out at hole 11 I think. He's a nice guy trying to make a buck selling hackysacks, but when I go disc-golfing I look for privacy and solitude, not solicitation.

Other Thoughts:

I recommend a good short game to get through the wooded holes as well as knowing the behavior of your discs to have a good round. If you are a beginner you may be intimidated by the more experienced players, however they were friendly to me when I first started. I just started a couple months ago and average a 70, but I recently shot an amazing 60 here the last round.

Pros:

Beautiful setting
Big Parking area
Great signage--mapped out with each basket placement and a little washer on the pole just beneath the sign to show which placement the basket is at on the day you play
Very intuitive flow
Cement tees at every hole
Benches at every hole
Garbage cans at every hole
Excellent use of available terrain
Excellent use of elevation
Superb design
Forces you to throw every type of throw you know and even make up a couple :)
Really tests your strategic thinking
Multiple baskets on each hole
Beautifully manicured fairways
Great mixture of very technical holes and long holes--and many holes that have extremely technical stretches to get through to then navigate a long open area to the basket
Very nice mix of dogleg right and left holes (some practically switchbacks), laser straight holes and great uphill and downhill holes
Even the extremely technical holes have at least 2 or 3 very defined paths to the basket
No redundancy of holes
Amazing manicured paths and basket areas--crushed stone, wood chips, railroad ties
Great directional signs to direct you to the next tee
Amazing risk/reward aspects to this course
Friendly and helpful locals
3 bonus holes to make it 21

Cons:

Hard to find any cons on this course...I can't imagine how you could make the design of the course any better--literally one of the most creatively designed courses I've played out of 297 so far...

In a perfect world, the only thing I would change is on a few of the tee pads...a few slant up or down quite a bit and could be leveled and re-poured...a few are well worn and the little pebbles in the cement are smoothed quite a bit and are pretty slick when wet

These minor issues in no way distract from this phenomenal course

Other Thoughts:

This course is a must play if you are in the Nashville area...we played it three times while here on a conference and wish we could have played it even more

Pros:

I really enjoyed this course. It has a nice variety of shots, with some chances to rip a drive and some where you must be technical. It wanders in and out of the woods and has multiple pin placements. Several of the holes finish on or near some pretty cool rock formations (nothing huge or waterfall-esque or anything, but neat nonetheless). Nice, scenic course that can kick your butt too!

Cons:

The signs are kinda dated and the first time I played this course, I didn't know about the multiple pins and had no idea to look at the sign to figure out which pin was being used (I was fairly new to the game then). The nearby airport, like across the street, is kind of a drag.

Other Thoughts:

I would recommend playing this course to anyone passing thru Nashville! There is an "inner course" that starts after hole 6 I think and circles back to 7. Three pretty tough little holes there. Fun though.
