An objective review of North Carolina's highest rated course on UDisc.

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 18, 2022 Played the course:once

Pros:

Sheetz Gold is North Carolina's highest rated course according to UDisc. Yet, it's somehow still underrated.
- We always talk about rating inflation on UDisc. Is this course worthy of its 4.9 rating with 100+ reviews? Why, yes. Yes it is.
- What you have here is a single basket. Unlike other elite courses that take 18 (or more) baskets to achieve greatness, Sheetz only needs one.
- The golden shine from the basket and the angelic glow weren't present when I played. But I could still sense them during my throws.
- There is a full service gas station here. How many other courses can make that claim? The answer: Not many!
- You can fill up your vehicle and play this layout once, twice, three, or four times. You only need to play one round to experience this course. Every time after that is just a bonus.
- The entire plot of land is approx. 40x150. You don't need to trek high and low to play elite courses. You can achieve that with a long jump putt!
- Wind down after your round with a Puckermelon Shake or a Red Bull Smoothie. Good luck finding that at Flip City or Idlewild.

Cons:

I don't want to appear biased so I'll point out things I found wrong.
- The grass was tall when I played. The lawn wasn't perfectly manicured. It wasn't perfection. Not rain on your wedding day bad, more like a slight breeze.
- For those who play disc golf for exercise, you're not going to burn as many calories as you would at an 8,000 foot layout.
- Some people will feel uncomfortable being so overcome with emotion in such a public setting. So, if you think tears of joy in a field next to a gas station is a bad thing, you may want to avoid this place.
- If you haven't played hundreds of courses, or at least dozens, don't play here. Once you visit Sheetz Gold, all other courses will seem empty.
- The melodic tones of a piano weren't playing the day I was there. Or, if they were, they were drowned out by the 4 lane road. I was expected The Masters-esque piano music playing the whole time. Sadly, that wasn't to be.
