Pros:
There is a decent variety of holes including left turning/right turning, long/short, wooded/open. Nice big concrete tee pads and nice baskets. A great course for beginnners with no water obstacles.
Cons:
Course can be fairly easy for the advanced player. Tee signs are a bit dated, however, they still provide accurate distances. The back 9 holes are a almost too open. Some tee boxes are difficult to find for the first timer.
Other Thoughts:
This course almost plays as two different 9 hole courses...the front nine play through thin mature growth while the back 9 holes play through an open area with some mature growth. In addition, the front 9 holes play shorter than the back 9 holes.
For the front 9 holes, you will want to have an accurate drive to score well. Most holes are deuceable with a drive that doesn't get tangled up in the trees. The first 9 holes also take advantage of the rolling terrain that the park offers.
On the back 9 holes (your arm should be loose), you will need long accurate drives to score well. But even with a bad drive, a 3 is still very makeable with the lack of obstacles. The road plays O.B. and comes into play on a few holes which can add a few strokes to your score.
This course is a great course for casual play and for beginners. It is located on the north side of FW so I would play this course before heading to Swinney Park. Updated/more detailed tee signs would help make this coures rate .5 higher.
