Typical Small Course in a City Park 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jan 11, 2015 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Simpsonville City Park is a great place for beginners to learn the game. This course is mostly flat and lightly wooded and most holes are in the 200-300 ft. range. There are also many opportunities for an ace which will keep newer players coming back for more. The dual pads give you a completely different look on most holes and help to keep more experienced players interested.

Cons:

Simpsonville is tightly packed on a small tract of land, so it's very difficult to play during peak hours. You have to watch for incoming discs on most holes and you have to wait for walkers and other activities on a regular basis. Hole 9/18 can be nearly unplayable at times as you are forced to throw over the basketball course.

Other Thoughts:

Despite having mostly open and easy holes, Simpsonville City Park is well-designed for such a small area. While not a bad course, SCP really is just your typical 9-basket course in a small city park. It's definitely not a destination course, but is a great teaching tool and is worth playing if you are course bagging.

Great place to learn 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 7, 2012 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Great open holes. Excellent learning environment. I learned to play here. Fun shots. Ace runs. Some obstacles that keep it somewhat exciting. OB comes into play which helps improve accuracy. Tight shots here and there also improve your game. Low scores can be had, improving confidence.

Cons:

City park = pedestrians.

No trash cans on most of the course and sadly some patrons of the park litter.

Gets super busy during football season. Coaches bring their teams out and use open area to practice. This wouldnt be terribly bad if the coaches weren't arrogant pains in the butt. They won't make their teams move as if it is beneath them.

Dirt tees can get muddy with rain. Many are washed out and in need of replacing.

Other Thoughts:

Great place to bring your family. You can meet new people here. Fresh paint on baskets is nice. Inner chains have been added. New metal tee signs give correct distances. Not a must go destination for DG but it plays quick if you are crunched for time.
