Pros:

South Stokes offers a simple, yet interesting layout. It's somewhat convoluted, but that's where the charm is.
- There's so much that doesn't make sense here: from having two holes play over a road to having two baskets played twice to the numbering being wrong, or non-existent, to the baskets themselves. Yet, I thought there was a little bit of charm.
- #1 is a fun hole. You throw uphill to a basket on top of a ridge. It's barely 200 feet, but it is a blind tee shot. The basket is then placed under the lone tree up there, and it's actually a well designed layout. Easily a hole you'll want to throw multiple discs on, or play again at the end of the round.
- #2 & 3 are fun too. Both are downhill. Both are lightly wooded and allow you to carve tee shots around trees.
- #4 is a dogleg right that crosses the road, then hugs the underbrush/edge of the woods.
- After a series of open and/or simpler layouts, you get two final holes with a little bit of variety. #7 hugs the woods along the entire left side of the fairway. The round ends with another hole that crosses the woods, starting in the open back to the shared basket with #2.
- Overall, the course does offer some decent variety.
- The hand drawn, caricature next tee sign for #5. If I were ever to steal a tee sign, this would be pretty high on my list. It's simple, yet so, so cool. You can see it on my Instagram page.
- The homemade baskets. They look like they were concocted from barrels or the like. They're not great. But, on a simple course with enough other quirks, they're par for the course here.

Cons:

The homemade baskets. Yes. Some people will have an issue with them, throwing out a rulebook and arguing regulations or some other legal mumbo jumbo. Hey, quit being so square man.
- The hole numbers on the baskets don't match. Hole #2 (and #9's) basket says #3 on it. Hole #3 says #4 on it. Here's the way I look at it. At least these holes have numbers on them. Others don't.
- Signage needs to be improved, or simply exist. If I didn't have the UDisc map, I wouldn't have even found the first tee.
- Lack of amenities. It is a school course so no access to bathrooms or drinks. And, being a school course, pack it in, pack it out.
- No clear tee areas for some holes, notably #5. Let's just say this course probably doesn't get a lot of TLC so missing tee signs aren't a priority.
- Basic signage (tee signs, next tee arrows, hole numbers on baskets) would solve most of the course's issues.

Other Thoughts:

This is a nice, basic layout. There's nothing flashy, but it's also not bad. Backhanded compliment, I guess?
- I wish the hill past #1, and near the radio tower was used for at least one more hole. That's would give the course better variance and would eliminate one of the dull, field holes.
- Slap a fresh coat of paint on these unique basket, and they'll be more appealing.
- This is a course that is probably much more fun as a safari or create-your-own layout. Just think of throwing from the top of the hill near #1 across the road to the baskets around the practice field (#5/8, 6, & 7). Or, stand on #7's tee and have to throw across the hill and uphill to #1's basket.
- Once you're familiar with the layout, I'd imagine your pace of play greatly improves. Even using the UDisc map, I still had to waste time trying to see if I was overlooking tee markers on some holes. Spoiler: on #5, I wasn't. The tee area was just overgrown with waste high grass.
- You feel like you're in the middle of nowhere here, but there are some good courses close by. It's only 10 minutes to Neatman, and 15 to Horizons Park and Black Widow respectively.
- Based on what I did, and see what others have done since, this course tends to be bagged after playing Neatman. This probably doesn't get much consistent play. But, it worth a quick play after Neatman.
