Mix of Okay and Boring 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Nov 2, 2021 Played the course:once

Pros:

Course Maintenance 10/10. City park that is very clean and well mowed.

Finding Discs 10/10. You should easily and quickly find your throws. No rough/brush/woods except for on the left of the pin on hole 5 and no water hazards.

Baskets/Tees 9/10. Baskets are Mach 5's, tees are concrete. Fairly small tees but the course is short so it doesn't make much difference.

Navigation 8/10. There are tee signs. They aren't the most descriptive but good enough, a couple distances seem pretty off. Course flow is fairly intuitive, after hole 3 it'd be easy to go to 5 instead of 4, and same to a lesser extent to go from 1 to 3 instead of 2.

Comfort 6/10. There are bathrooms and a water fountain on site, no benches and not much shade. A few holes where you need to worry about non-dgers using a walking path around the park, as well as a couple holes where you are pretty close to people's backyards.

Cons:

No Alternate Hole Positions 0/10.

Variety of distances 2/10. The holes range from about 140-240ft. I don't throw that far (max drives around 350'), but even I used a putter on 4 holes and a mid on the other 5. Hole 3 probably plays the longest since it's uphill.

Variety of openness 2/10. Many of the holes are completely wide open, and holes 5 and 9 have 1 or 2 trees to avoid.

Challenging all levels 2/10. Not enough obstacles or length to challenge experienced players. The middle section of the course (holes 4 and 6-8) has 0 obstacles, so it will be boring even for beginners. The rest of the holes are good for beginners at least.

Decisionmaking 2/10. Holes 1 and 9 are the only ones where you have to decide which gap to go for, the rest pretty much only have one route or no obstacles at all.

Variety of shot paths 3/10. There are a couple of holes that make you throw different shots. Hole 3 forces a right to left shot, 2 has a treeline down the right, 5 makes you throw straight. Not enough to overcome all the wide open holes though.

Use of obstacles 3/10. Just too many open holes. It felt like they could have used the obstacles near the start to at least make hole 4 more interesting, and maybe on 9 too.

Amount/Use of elevation 4/10. Holes 1-3 have pretty interesting elevation, but after that it's pretty flat with a slight slope on 7-9.

Other Thoughts:

Overall Challenge 1/10.
More Precise Rating 1.731

Holes 1-3, 5, and 9 are good enough to be on a 2.0 or even 2.5 course, but the rest are 1.0 quality. As is, this course is right on the border between a 1.5 and a 2.0 for me. Could be fun to play a little safari here.

Short beginner friendly course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 26, 2018 Played the course:once

Pros:

This course sits in a very small park the you can actually see this 9 holer from HWY 41 . Pulling into the small parking lot , there are rest rooms and a small shelter right next to you .If you have a map , and you probably should , you march back to the entrance to the park for hole #1 . There are smallish concrete tee pads on all of the holes , which is okay , because you shouldn't need anything but a short approach disc and a putter for this round . The baskets are in great shape and the thin tee signs were , well , just in the way . Not a hole over 236' , this is ace run city here . Good for only that and short game work . No real obstructions here . A couple of light doglegs around 2 and 3 , and some trees to keep from hitting on #9 , and you can have a quick round or 2 before moving on . Ideal for picnics , showing the little Ms or junior the game , or a round with the gal . You will likely not see anyone here playing at the park, which seems well maintained .

Cons:

I am not going to slam an introductory park that put enough time and money to pour concrete tees , install tee signs and set 9 baskets into a very small area . But ,,,,, the course holds water , a lot of water . I played in the makings of a swamp when I was her after a hard rain . The course feature no elevation , just a couple of small inclines and throwing off a short hill on #2 . The poor designer of this course was given nothing to work with . Go grab your deuces , aim for aces and get out .

Other Thoughts:

A short intro course . Teach someone the game here , putt around . It's okay if you bypass this course if you want . Unless you live in the city , then no need to play . At least it's free and you won't lose a disc .

The definition of pitch 'n putt 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 6, 2014 Played the course:once

Pros:

Good concrete tee pad on all holes. In good shape and grippy.

Decent signs, which help, considering it's basically a bunch of baskets out in a field. Distances all seemed to be spot on.

Decent DGA baskets that caught very well. No issues here.

Navigation was pretty simple, and intuitive.

Cons:

This is a very short course (nothing over 250') that is pretty much devoid of obstacles, save for a few trees.

For playing in July (after a dry week), it was still pretty soggy. I'd have to imagine the water would get pretty deep here during a wet part of the year.

For being so open, there was a lot of bugs (see: soggy). Musk up if it's bug season.

Other Thoughts:

Decent multi-purpose park with a baseball field and playground. The park bathrooms were very nice, and clean to boot. Decent parking lot, and street parking available.

This is what it is...a 9 holer in a city park, without much interference. Not much to be done in this respect, as there just isn't any more space, or terrain, to do anything with.

Great course for beginners, and ace runs. You could very easily go -9 here if your game was on that day.

Not worth going out of your way for, but a decent way to warm up your arm if you're heading to Dretzka or Brown Deer...or bagging courses. You can knock this bad boy out in 20 minutes solo.

Boring 9 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 20, 2013 Played the course:once

Pros:

Great course to for beginners.
All holes are less than 300.
Accurate signs.
Concrete pads.
Never busy.
Nice baskets.
Even has some elevation!

Cons:

Not many obstacles in the way.
Very short.
Can get super swampy, usually drys out around July, but can be difficult to play without getting wet until that point.

Other Thoughts:

I really like the course even though it's boring and kinda lame. Not much to it, but I like it as it's never busy, has nice baskets and pads.

Tune up for Dretzka 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Oct 5, 2012 Played the course:once

Pros:

Concrete tees on all holes. Tee signs on all holes with hole #, basic layout, par and distance. (hole 6's i believe was broken and laying next to the tee) Slight elevation on the first couple holes. Very few trees to contend with so wind is your only real challenge here. Nice Mach 5 baskets which are one of my favorites on all holes. They catch well. Easy to find in a nice quiet subdivision. I'd imagine its never busy. Very easy to follow from hole to hole. Permanent course, so this would be an easy course to play in winter too.

Cons:

Short, bland and just not really all that exciting. It is located right by a middle school so a course this length is a good idea in this location, but for players with any skill level look elsewhere.

Other Thoughts:

Play it as a warm up to Dretzka as its only minutes away. Other than that theres not much for redeeming qualities here. Just OK. This would be a good course to work on different shots or just go for aces as they are attainable on every hole here.

Beginner & Ace Friendly 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Sep 5, 2010 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

--Great location, right outside Germantown and Menomonee Falls
--Park has many other activities to do
--Good signage
--Uses the land that was given as well as they could
--Uses as much elevation as possible in the park
--Trees are utilized where given
--Great course for beginners to learn the course and build confidence
--Leagues are held in spring, summer, and fall
--Great for night golf
--Open year round (although Dretzka Winter 24 right down the road)
--Great baskets
--Good navigation

Cons:

--SHORT Tee pads (although the holes are short enough)
--Half of the holes are very boring and feel like filler
--Way too short for most players
--This place gets very flooded with any heavy amount of rain
--Shot variety is lacking
------No RHBH Anhyzer shots or LHBH shots

Other Thoughts:

I think this course gets a little too much hate for what it was meant to be. The land was utilized as well as it could have and it is definitely geared towards a beginner. It has enough amenities going for it and it is a blast to play for beginners, so I will give it a 1.5

I know of people (beginners) that will only play here when they go disc golfing because it is the only course in the area that doesn't frustrate them.

Beginner Friendly, Wide Open 2+ years

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Dec 14, 2011 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

This is a true beginner course. There aren't many challenges to get in your way. If you want to do some practice of grip it and rip it its perfect (IF YOU DONT THROW IT 300-400 because it is fairly short), if you want to practice your puttin and approach shots its perfect.

Course is open in the winter which is a bonus!

Has tee signs.

#1 is the best hole because it has a narrow run of trees on either side and you have a ceiling forcing you to keep the disc low.

Cons:

Not enough challeneges. They could have used a few more obstacles in their favor I think, because even though it may just be a beginners course, they should have some challenges.

Nothing too technical.

Really only 3 holes with any obstacles in play, however, I would expect multiple run ins with people in the summer as the course winds through and around a baseball field, exercise areas, and just a general open field in the park.

Unfortunately: they cut down some of the key features on this course . . . the apple tree behind #3 basket and the low evergreen shrubs in the middle of #9 fairway . . . it helped to create a tight window (vertical) because of the low hanging branches. There still is some interest on the course but i am unsure of why these things were removed.

Other Thoughts:

This is a beginner course and can be fun to play . . . i still have not gotten the elusive (-9) but I will some day soon!
