Pros:
-Professional signage
-Nice baskets
-Natural beauty of central MN (St. Mathias)
-Nice variety of hole layouts (each hole was carefully thought out ahead of time)
-Many opportunities to demonstrate technical ability
Cons:
-Unforgiving fairways (errant shots may lead to a lost disc, a few scrapes from the underbrush, or worse yet, a tick-borne illness)
-Not an easy course to walk (uneven ground in places, some debris in fairway, lots of wildlife such as bees, ticks, and mosquitoes/flies)
-Needs players and vision to develop into a truly great course, which it could be
Other Thoughts:
Holes are a work in progress. Players inputs are needed to develop this course further to utilize its great potential. St. Mathias is a beautiful place to have a disc golf course.
Beginner player experience - 0.1/1 for tough fairways, wicked terrain, and incorrigible wildlife
Intermediate player experience - 0.7/1 for demanding technical shots in place of extreme distance or putting prowess
Advanced player experience - 0.8/1 for being a poor disc golfer's Pebble Beach (where the elements are always in play)
Setting - 0.8/1 for raw nature, very raw
Overall course experience - 0.4/1 for being very rough around the edges
Total = 2.8/5
