-Nice big tees
-Long/Short tees on most holes
-Plenty of elevation changes
-Hole 5 is an excellent risk/reward. 165' wide open makes it great for ace runs, but over shoot and its thick woods and a drop off.
-Big open field between parking lot and hole 1 make it great for warm ups and field practice.

-Can be buggy, especially annoying gnats flying in your eyes trying to putt.
-Pathway between 3 and 4 is overgrown
-Course can get busy

-Holes 3 and 7 have big right doglegs, and hole 4 and 6 are also well suited for LHBH players.
-I wish this course had woodchips because the sand around the basket is very fine and makes the discs slick.
-The field gives this course an extra half point

Starring Lake Disc Course is a great course with many opportunities for different shot selections. There are 4 holes that veer to the right, 1 hole fading to the left, and the other 4 straight on. There are four holes that are advantage to the big armed players- holes 3, 4, 7, and 9. The remaining holes work well for beginners.

After the road construction from 2010-11 a few holes lost their prestige in size and difficulty. Specifically the last 5 holes. But with current updates, such as tee pads, wood chips, and seating, its been made up for a bit.

This course becomes overwhelming populated after school is let out and many 1st timers like to take their time playing.

Bugs get very bad during the certain parts of the summer.

Sometimes too much trash is left about, which is typically left in the area where trash cans have been placed.

The best time to play this course is in the morning and before noon- like most courses- since school gets out this is the best free course to play in the South West Subs on Minneapolis.

Starring Lake has a large field leading to tee 1, which is great for practicing shot selections and letting 'um fly!

Staring Lake is a great course for pros and beginners alike. The shorter holes make it easy for a nice low score, but you're still given a challenge with Holes 3, 4 and 8. Very favorable to lefties and forehand throwers. There has recently been work done to some of the holes, such as adding steps and woodchips to the dreadful Hole 8. Overall, not too shabby.

There is a lot of trash around Hole 6 and dabs of litter lurking on other holes. It can also be distracting trying to drive with cars blowing by on Holes 5, 7, and 9.

The fact that Staring Lake is free is a good and a bad thing. Good because it's, well, free, and bad because it can be crowded.

This is the first course I have ever played and I love it. Its got a great variety of holes and rewards good shots. Great mix of woods and open areas. Difficult dog legs (Good for leftys)

The course is being torn up a little bit by road construction. Wish it was 18 holes

Love this course. I am not sure how long it will be there though.

-Nice cement tees. Dual tees on some of the longer holes.
-Nice baskets.
-Lots of elevation changes in the first half.
-Shaded for most of course in summer.
-Not much chance for losing discs as woods have been searched thousands of times.
-Some holes will make you use every shot in your arsenal.
-Wooded enough to be a challenge but not enough to be annoying.

-2 holes in a row were short and unimaginative compared to the rest of them.
-Very busy at times.
-I wish it was 9 holes, it seemed to end so fast.
-Its easy to find the park but the course is tucked into the back of it so that may be hard for someone who hasnt been there before.

Near playground, picnic area, lake, trails. Definitely worth a stop if you are in the west metro area.
