Private Starry Night

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Nov 24, 2023 Played the course:once

Pros:

-- Land is good for disc golf. Water is in play to some extent on four holes, and there is a legitimate water carry. There are plenty of trees, and they are well used. There is modest elevation.
-- New DD baskets.
-- Best hole is 9. No distances are listed, but I would put it at about 180 feet with 130 needed to clear the small pond. Trees near the basket make it difficult to float one high and drop it in, and there is water 15 feet behind the basket.
-- Hole 4 lets you air one out at well over 400 feet, but no other hole is longer than 275-300.
-- Despite being in an RV park, the course plays away from the other park features.
-- Restrooms in the office, along with a selection of discs and snacks/beverages.

Cons:

-- Tees are only marked by 5-foot long railroad ties in the ground. They are difficult to see from more than 20 feet away, and there is no sign of any kind. That is not completely true. Two holes have flags in the ground with numbers, but those numbers are not correct.
-- Baskets are not numbered.
-- Navigation. With almost nothing marked, you will often wonder what hole is next and which basket you are throwing to. Orange arrows on top of the baskets direct you toward the next tee, but that is all the help you get. Holes 1-3 are in a rectangle surrounded by gravel/pavement, and I played two holes incorrectly before getting a map, which I have uploaded here. The map wasn't marked with hole numbers, so I added them before uploading it.
-- No map on site.
-- A few baskets are close to the next tee pads, so if the course were crowded, there could be some safety concerns.

Other Thoughts:

-- This park is less than two months old, so signage and better tee pads are likely forthcoming.
-- The disc golf course was planned from the beginning stages, and it shows in the land use and how it avoids other park amenities.
-- The RV park is first-rate, offering a clubhouse, swimming pool and dog park.
