Awesome Practice Play Course 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 31, 2021 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

- Open clean fairways
- Easy to see baskets
- Nice wide playable fairways with few obstacles for beginners
- No water hazards for beginners to lose discs in

Cons:

- Maybe not the best course if you are looking for a big challenge
- Tee pads are not permanent and can get slippery if you are not wearing the correct footwear.
- Hole 5 is a bit confusing if you run the course as laid out. Additionally, there is no course sign for Hole 5. The basket is easy to locate so no worries there.
- (Not really a con ;) ) There are a few OB's that can be a challenge to new players with erratic throws i.e. this guy
- Hole 7 requires "threading" the needle which is very intimidating when starting out as a new play
- Public lounges in the shade on some of the holes which makes throwing interesting to say the least.
- On days that grounds maintenance is out, Hole 10 is impossible to drive from the tee. Don't ask the crew to move a machine if they are on "siesta"!

Other Thoughts:

I love taking my little dude out to this course for a round since he is still starting out. I have been using this course to test new discs that I have added to my bag. Hole 7 can be frustrating to "threaad the needle" but does make for a really interesting challenge. this hole might be one of those holes you return to and just practice throwing multiple times. I remember doing this on a course in the Midwest way back in the day when I first started playing disc.

I have heard people say that you need to watch out for other park users. I agree that other park users can be an issue if you are not paying attention. On that note, courtesy comes into play here. When playing this course, if I see someone on the sidewalk near one of the holes, I wait for them to pass, and then throw. On holes where residents of the neighborhood are lounging, I have found the best thing to do is ask them nicely to move. For instance, there were two young ladies on a blanket in the shade. I went up to them and asked nicely if they were willing to move as I have a tendency to hit whatever I last looked at. They smiled, gathered their stuff up and moved. After I played through I told them they could go back. They thanked me and returned to their spot.

Since this is in a residential neighborhood, I do my best to respect those that live there. This is a courtesy the residents deserve for allowing non-residents of the neighborhood to play the course. Keep it on the up and up and this course will stay open to the public.
