Tempting course for newbies and locals 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 22, 2018 Played the course:once

Pros:

Set in a park with ball fields , a dog park and level ground , it also boasts disc golf . The course starts at the entrance to the park and goes counter-clockwise around the area . If this park gets crowded , it might be hard to get in a full round . The 9 baskets are in good shape , and a variety of distances . The park is well manicured and disc golf uses all of the space it is given .

Cons:

Okay . I don't want to rag on this course much as it is well taken care of , but ,,,, the tee pads have pavers , maybe 4 to a hole . It can be messy to tee off after a lot of rain . The course itself plays flat . Hole number 1's basket is very close to a supply barn . I'm sure it get pretty windy in the park on many days . Most of the holes have fairly short distances ( 8 is the shortest at a little over 100 feet with some bushes guarding the basket ) somewhere in the 200 foot range , except #1 , # 7 ( 400 ft ) and 9 ( 325 ) but straight away on 7 & 9 with no real obstruction .

Other Thoughts:

Not a destination course , but it seems the city takes some pride in their course , so I give them kudos for suck . A real good intro course for newbies to the game . Give it a whirl if you are in the area , or just want to bag a course .

Beginner Course 2+ years

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Jul 27, 2013 Played the course:once

Pros:

Solid beginner course. More of a beginner to intermediate level course. Not much challenge to advanced players.

9 grippy Disccatcher baskets that are highly visible. Not many courses in the area. Perfect for beginners or for building a putt and approach game.

Signs on each hole shows distance, par, and a map of the hole.

Tees (2 x 2 paver stones) that are not hard to find.

Very nice park that is clean and peaceful.

Trees have been planted which will eventually shape the holes. Not much of an obstacle at the moment.

Course does not interfere with any of the athletic fields on the property with exception of hole 5 (crosses a small workout area). The trail crosses a few holes but it isn't as much as a problem as the trail at Northwestway.

Ace run.

Cons:

Very short holes. Most holes are between 114-250 feet. Hole 7 is the longest hole and it is completely open.

Not many obstacles. All of the trees are young so they do not alter your throw. In 10-15 years, the trees will be a pain for course users.

Only one tee per hole. Since all of the holes are very short, longer tee pads are needed. There is enough room in this park to add longer tees.

Tees need expanded. It is easy to trip over the paver stones in the ground and it is hard to get a good approach for throwing.

Signs are faded and need remade.

Other Thoughts:

This was an enjoyable course. There is not much difficulty to this course unless it is a windy day.

There is room for this course to be expanded either by more holes the same size or by adding a longer set of tees.

When the trees grow and when longer tees are added, this course would be a 2.5-3 but not much better.

Work on your short game 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:May 8, 2012 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

- Everything is recreational par 3, great to work on short game
- Great course for families. If children get bored there is a nice playground in the middle of course.
- Very nice baskets
- Easily ace holes

Cons:

- Rain drainage is an issue. Course gets standing water on many holes
- Lack of meaningful obstacles
- Grass is very patchy
- Tees are tiny

Other Thoughts:

This park could be better, but if you take it as a way to quickly work on your mid-short game I think you will like it.
