- Plenty of elevation change.
- Variety of shot shapes, especially for a golf course.
- Great use of the water, sand traps, and trees on the golf course.
- Sunday's (used to be) specifically open to disc golf.

- Course gets affected by the wind big time.
- No tee pads, using the grass can be a bit tricky sometimes.
- Dual use course. Had a bad experience with some golfers one time.

I played Sunrise for 2 tournaments. Overall I enjoyed the course. Plenty of distance but it is risk/reward which is nice. For a golf course this is pretty solid when it comes to shot variety and layout. I'd go back again!

Hosts at the clubhouse were helpful and friendly. The temporary tee signs weren't up, but they raced around and got them up for us before we played.

Good use of the hills and the trees. There are some good challenging upshots and risk/reward scenarios, including dropoffs behind the basket and playing hillsides.

#3 is a fun downhill shot across the creek bed going uphill on the other side.
#11 was another fun downhill/uphill challenge.
The pond on #9 (300') ate my Beast, but I'm going to blame the stiff wind and hopefully throw that hole better next time. I liked the idea of #9, even though I failed at it.

For me, long open drives are a con. If you like that sort of thing, there are two 600+ and one almost 800' hole. For example, #12 is a 600' drive over the pond. With the pond directly in the middle of the fairway, the challenge is either to drive short of the pond or risk going for a 400' throw.
Some of the baskets have quirky placements. #1 and #7 are on a mound. #14 is on a 3' tree stump. #18 is on a pile of three stacked boulders.

How do you evaluate against the cost? With so many great courses in the Quad Cities, it's hard to be objective about even a minimal fee ($5). We played on a cold damp morning, so we didn't have to deal with any other disc golf or ball golf traffic, so that was nice.
Sometimes when I finish a course like Camden II, I feel beat up but deeply challenged to go back and do better. I don't know if I feel that way about Sunrise. I know that I can't make a more accurate throw and do better. My max throw is about 300 feet on a calm day, so holes that are 800 feet just feel silly to me. But again, if that's your thing and you can throw 500', this might be a good fit for you.
