Funset at Sunset 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Sep 22, 2021 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

Missouri River Valley Discgolf
Course plays around some rather big Hills, Valleys, and Washouts

Played several North Dakota Discgolf Courses Designed by Darrell Nodland
Fun and very Challenging... can't say enough Good things about his outstanding Design

Third of the Holes are potential Deuces for DGers with sub 300 foot Drives, and more advanced players could possibly Deuce Half of the Holes

Great Design offering a legit Blue-Gold level challenge, using the Elevation in numerous diverse ways to create Par 4s on nearly half this Course

Views from Hilltops are Sweet
Most of the denser Vegetation and Trees are found in the Washout/Lowland areas, which allows for the Satisfaction of watching Full Flights on several of the downhill Bomber Holes

First Four Holes are well designed Par3s, with some Birdy opportunity

7 is a massive Uphill Hole that might be a Par5, and then is followed by a pretty challenging Par4 Hole 8

12 is an Outstanding DG Hole, involving a bit of everything... Wooded Tunnel, Washout Area, Sloped Fairways, and a Green on a Hillside

14 and 15 are back to back Monster Par4's, incorporating challenging Greens also

Finishes with a pretty awesome RidgeRider Hole

Bunch of good Basket Placements

Wasn't Buggy in September

Cons:

No Course Map at Course
Navigation Wasn't a problem however

Several Holes use the Path for Teepads

Hole 5 Teepad was Not marked, and was missing the TeeSign

Washout Vegetation was thick, even in September still

Buckthorn patch in-between Holes 7/8, may be in other areas

Russian Olive Tree in front of 7s Tee can keep you from seeing, where some shots can land in dense Washout

Other Thoughts:

Putting a Basket position for 18 up on that Hilltop would be Awesome

3L 7 8 10 12 14 15 & 18 are pretty good Gold Level challenges

Alternate Basket between 1 3 & 18
Think it's 3Long, but looks like it could be used for 1 or 18 too?

Alternate 'Blue' Basket between 5 & 15
9 Hole Loop could throw 1-5, then 14Tee to 'Blue' Basket, and then play 16-18?

Great place to DG at the end of the Day, cause you know... Sunset has Sunsets :)

Excellent balance Discgolf Holes
As a Blue Level DGer, I really loved the Layout and Design of Sunset

A fun challenge 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 18, 2018 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

This course will challenge you if you are a long bomber or technical wizard. You will need a wide variety of shots and understand how to play uphill and downhill lies which you wouldn't expect out of a course in good ol flat ND. While it is super challenging there are a few shorter "birdie" holes mixed in.

Cons:

The amount of foliage in spots will bring losing discs into play. I lost 2 discs last round, but did find one.

Other Thoughts:

If you haven't played the course a lot or are not an experienced player don't come in expecting to shoot par.

Championship Pro Caliber Course as advertised 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 8, 2017 Played the course:once

Pros:

The description is very accurate, Pro level course, links style, tough, long, lots of elevation change. Tees are on the path or concrete, baskets are double chained Mach 3's. The mowed areas were well placed. Online map was useful. Multiple pin placements.

Cons:

Tee signs are left over from a tournament, and the current pin placement is not indicated on the tee sign(on the longer holes it is difficult to spot the basket from the tee). Unmowed areas (of which there are lots off of the fairways) may get high enough to result in lost discs.

Other Thoughts:

I gave a Four star rating for Pro players. Casual/Beginner players may struggle after the first two holes. I have only played the course 1 time as I was passing through for work. I'll be playing here again.

Some players may have a difficult time with the course due to its length. A big arm challenge combined with ND wind resulted in maximum fun for me.
