Pros:

Wow. Talk about a simplistic layout. If I could leave a short review, it would simply state, "9-hole course in a wide-open field." Now, I've got to stretch out that simple concept. Gee, thanks DGCR (wink).
- This is a very easy course to navigate. From the parking lot, I first came upon the basket for #7. It was very easy to trace the path straight to hole #1.
- Course is good for kids, beginners, and field work. The reason is that there are no obstacles whatsoever. Unless a newbie hooks a shot at a 90-degree angle into the woods on #4 or 5, there's no possible way to find yourself in trouble. Course is good for kids and beginners as there aren't any long layouts, with holes ranging from approx.. 125 feet (#5) up to a good 300 feet or so on #8. Even a first time player should be getting their fair share of 3s here.
- As for practice, even the biggest of arms can unleash massive drives here. You want to throw 600 foot shots? You've got plenty of room to spare.
- As for the course itself, there are plenty of ace chances. I recorded myself trying to catch an ace on tape on holes #4 & 6. I only parked my shots for tap-in 2s.
- In terms of variety, hmmmm. Ok, so #1 plays slightly downhill. #5 plays back up said hill. And by elevation, we're talking a variance of 10 feet.
- Without obstacles, every hole is a straight shot. Sure, you can opt to play for a hyzer or annhyzer; forehand or backhand. Otherwise, you may be throwing the same tee shot on nine straight holes.
- #9's basket is right next to #1's tee pad. So, I guess you could opt for a second loop.

Cons:

No challenges whatsoever. Nine straight wide-open holes. When you don't have a single tree in play, it's hard to create challenges. At least they didn't try to gimmick the layout by making a hole 600 feet.
- The tee marker for #5 was missing. It was replaced by a small cone.
- The tee marker for #8 was knocked over. It's still there, just on it's side.
- Did I mention ever hole is wide open and every layout from tee to basket is a straight line? Oh, I didn't realize I had already mentioned that.
- No amenities in case it's an issue for your 15 - 20 minute round.

Other Thoughts:

Sunset Park Elementary is the simplest of simple layouts. But, I didn't mind it as I was parking tee shot after tee shot. And I was doing that with relative ease. Once I got to holes #7 - 9, I suddenly realized I should have carried a disc with a bit more length.
- I don't know if this course will entice any kids to pick up the game. It's a little too simple that it might turn off interest. Or, kids could like how well they played and want to try their hand at a different course. Not sure which way that plays out.
- Woke comment alert. Rock Hill has many school courses. It's a great thing the city/county has done. That said, why is the simplest/most boring (worst?) layout just happen to be at the school in the low income part of town? I know you can't manufacture obstacles so there's a valid reason as to why this happens. But, it is a glaring issue nonetheless.
- You do get a good walk playing here. The holes are spaced apart instead of overlapping. Because it's an open field, the amount of distance covered from one end to the other seems even further apart.
- If I were a generous rater, I still couldn't see giving this course more than a 1.0. Ok, there are people on this site that would give the course a 2.5 if they hit chains. As it is, from a course perspective only, there's no quality here. It's one of the lowest rated courses I've played.
