-Sweetbriar Park is a beautiful greenway along Crow Creek in suburban King of Prussia/Upper Merion Township. The first three holes follow the walking path, with the last two playing through a lovely, gently sloping field. The creek is in play on the first four holes.

-The park is very well-kept, with Discatcher baskets, a playground, and basketball court. No signage for the disc golf course, but that isn't really necessary for 5 holes.

-#4 is easily the standout hole. It plays 300 feet, slightly downhill, to a basket in an amphitheater of trees and the creek.

-Tees are natural/marked with boards, but the first four holes can be easily teed off the nearby concrete path if better footing is desired.

-The course plays north to south without returning. Given the layout of the park, however, it's not as if the designers had much choice in the matter.

-Hole 3 is a serious safety risk. Pedestrians coming around the blind corner are at high risk of being hit with a driver. I'm surprised this hole hasn't been shortened/pulled.

-I would like to relocate the first two baskets to the field containing the last three. Instead of a mediocre course, this could be a fantastic practice area, with a variety of possible shots up to 350'.

Sweetbriar Park is a long narrow community park which stretches from the cup-de-sac on Hansen Street to W. Beidler Road. follows the creek. The park has a few other amenities such as children's playground. It's a great little par to walk or ride your bike through. However, it's not a great site for a disc golf course. Sweetbriar DGC has five holes, all of which are decent recreational length. The problem is especially noticeable on holes 2 & 3 which are 200' and probably 250' respectfully. These holes are narrow with the creek on your left and thick brush on your right. I feel these tight holes will eliminate most beginners and less skilled players who might otherwise choose to play a recreational course such as this.

The Discatchers are fine here.

So I have to wonder? Who was this designed for? Did the designers consider what player might frequent Sweetbriar? I think I have an answer and that is teen players who have some game and don't mind firing a few discs into the rush or creek.

The long walk from either end of the park to the far other end. You always love a course that loops back to the start.

Good chance of losing disc or spending time searching in the brush.

Doesn't have a true target audience. Most recreational types will poo path playing here. Not a beginner course. Anybody better than a Rec player will ignore ole Sweetbriar DGC.

My solution for Sweetbriar DGC would be a redesign making it a decent little 9 hole course. Make the distances easy recreational lengths, maybe around 150'. This would it easier for beginner types/recreational players to avoid the rough and the creek. Now realize that if you have a course with suspect terrain and not much player use, adding more baskets might not make a great deal of sense. It might not but I think nine shorter holes would have been the best play at the start of this design.

Empty! I've played here 3 times and only had one dog-walker pass me on the path. So, even though there is a playground and basketball court in the park, I've had the place to myself.
Also, despite the large amount of rain we've had, it was incredibly dry.

Only 5 holes. Its limited size only makes it viable as a practice spot.
The first time you play, you'll need to hunt the tee boxes, as they are only marked by 4X4's that are mostly buried in the ground. The locations are logical, but the tees are not immediately standing out.
Doesn't sustain my interest for more than an hour of practice.
No restroom.

If you're creative, you can create a few new holes or practice opportunities by playing the holes backwards.

Even though you have to walk all the way through the course to get to/from car (depending on which end you park at), the course is short enough that your walk is not a big deal.

Despite my low rating, this is one of the closest courses to me. So, I'll definitely play it again, especially since many days I only have an hour to get out anyway.

A place to throw in an area devoid of other options.

I played this little course early on a Sunday morning in February so other than a man looking for a lost dog, I was alone. I'm not sure if the trail the course plays along is well used or not, but if it is I could easily see the course being unplayable. Same goes for the playground equipment near the first and last holes.

The first hole plays from the street parking area towards the bridge. I was fooled by the macadam with pink spray paint and didn't notice the first tee marker until I was leaving. Throw right and you can wind up in the creek, long and left and there is a swing set. Straight shot, nothing fancy.

Follow the concrete path and cross the bridge to tee #2 on the left. Another straight throw, woods on the right, creek on the left.

Hole 3 is the longest at 325. Straight throw down the path, woods right, creek left.

Hole 4 moves out into an open field. Straight throw with big hyzer openness if you are so inclined (missing long or left will put you in a thorny mess).

Hole 5 uses the only elevation the little parklet has to offer. An impassable tree wall guarding the basket up a small hill forces a hyzer throw or at least a straight shot with a big hyzer finish to get through the smallish opening in the treeline.

At this point, the course officially ends and you're at the other end of the walking trail. If you play it backwards from basket to basket, you get 9 holes and end up back where you parked. I tried it and only ended up throwing a couple. The backwards lines seemed more difficult as I had trouble staying on the fairway (Didn't find the rough on the actual 5 holes) and even landed in the creek playing back to 1's basket... Either that or I just started throwing bad.

This park could REALLY use a good cleaning. The woods are full of all sorts of trash and I even found a dead skunk laying not too far from basket #3. Most courses around here as of late have been super muddy, this one was not.

If you're in King of Prussia and you have 20 minutes you need to kill, come to SweetBriar and throw some plastic. If you're driving by and want to add another course to your played list, by all means. If you live nearby and want to introduce a new player to the game, ok. If you're a local and you want a place to throw at real baskets without driving half an hour or more, this is it. Other than that...
