At least there's a course here! 2+ years drive by

Pros:

There was not a lot to work with here, but the design makes the best of a small flat park. The 9 baskets are scattered mostly around the edges of the park, and nearly all the tees are on the road that runs around the main area of the park. Some of the holes have some nice trees as obstacles to keep things a little more interesting.

Though the tees are simply spray painted onto asphalt, they are numbered and color coded (for playing forward or backward) and this made the course easier to follow than I expected. The volleyball court added an interesting OB to avoid on a couple holes, and the nearly constant wind (according to locals) also made an easy course more entertaining.

Cons:

This course is truly an introductory course, with no elevation, and very little distance on any of the holes. The asphalt spots used for tees had some cracks and potholes that made them a little difficult to throw from.

We had the park to ourselves, but if there were any other people there, the course would quickly have become unplayable. Just about every fairway crossed over the main field of the park, including the volleyball court and picnic areas.

A couple of the baskets were not anchored to the ground, and the wind was knocking them over, and rolling them away from their intended locations. We were able to find the correct spots and put them back, but this was only a temporary solution.

Other Thoughts:

It's great that small towns are putting in courses, as this is definitely a sport that just about everyone can enjoy. Though this course was not one I would recommend going out of your way to play, it certainly is better than no course at all, and hopefully will help introduce more people to the sport.
