Disc golf in an overgrown pasture 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Oct 18, 2008 Played the course:once

Pros:

There are no water hazards on this course, so you needn't worry about bringing any floating disks. The area around Summertown and Hohenwald is beautiful and very peaceful. The course also is free, but that is about where the pros end.

Cons:

Non-existent fairways on holes 1-14. Essentially, the first 14 holes are overgrown pasture land that baskets were put in. There are no tee pads and the baskets are the cheaper sport model baskets. If you can't throw a thumber and tomahawk between 250-300 feet with pinpoint accuracy, you are going to be frustrated. All you can do is throw over the 15-20 foot saplings that are all over. Then, you have to hope that you don't land behind one so that you don't have a putt. I am used to tight courses, and I am not exaggerating when I say fairways are non-existent on the first 14 holes, and the final 4 holes are just open shots across grass between 330 and 457 feet.

Other Thoughts:

The Farm is in beautiful country and has some awesome potential. However, it looks like a course that someone who has never played set up after reading the Discraft or Innova tips online. I would say that with liberal use of some chain saws and moving some pins the course could be really good. All that being said, these folks were good enough to allow the public to play in their community and there are 18 holes so that is worth at least 1.5 stars.
