Beautiful Course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Oct 21, 2014 Played the course:once

Pros:

As a Memphis resident, Ive played several courses in the area. And the Grove is by far my Favorite.

Absolutely beautiful property, the course is immaculately maintained fairways are always mowed, cleanest course in town... by far.

Excellent tee pads
Great Variety in the holes,
Super friendly staff

Cons:

NONE...

Some have mentioned that the course is closed at times, this is true. This is first and foremost a private Christian Youth Camp. With its focus on sharing the Love of Christ with our youth.

Sure, it may not always be convenient for the average disc golfer, but I say the priorities are where they should be. And thank the staff for all they do.

Other Thoughts:

An absolute beautiful course, challenging... clean. A must play if given the chance, You wont be disappointed.

The Grove 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Apr 11, 2014 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

The course is fun. There is a good mix of shots for all players. Being that I play RHBH and have no flick some of the shorter holes on the course present the most challenge.

Cons:

There has been a lot of dirt work done and lots of limbs and brush stacked in the fairway of #3(I think it is) but I expect it to be cleared soon since there is an upcoming glow tournament.

Other than that this course is awesome. gave it a 4. Will be higher once the work is all complete.

Other Thoughts:

talked to one the property care takers a few weeks back and they are thinking of moving a hole to the new man made island in the lake. Once the improvements are finished this course will be beyond great. Quickly becoming one of my favorite courses in the area.

The Grove 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Apr 11, 2014 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

Great hole variation. Left to right, right to left, straight, wooded, open; this course has it all. A beautiful location for a course as well. Set on camp property, this course is both neatly constructed and uses the natural landscape to design the holes. A truly wonderful course.

Cons:

Minor issue, but the par on a few of the holes is a stroke too high. Especially on hole 10, which is listed as a ~450 ft par 5 in an open field. It should be a 4 or maybe even a 3. 11 and 13 had similar issues. Construction also comes into play on a few holes in that the ground has been moved by construction machines making it very soft. Again, not a huge con, but still worth noting.

Other Thoughts:

Awesome course, set on a beautiful property. This course is definitely worth stopping by when visiting Memphis. One thing to note, this course is open most, but not every day and the schedule of availability is located on the Facebook page.

One of Tn's Best 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Nov 17, 2011 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Huge Teepads (6x10) and the nicest signs I've seen.
There are A, B, and even a few C locations on each hole.
There are several long holes and a few tight, wooded, tricky ones.
A great mix of right and left handed shots that require accurate shots.
A good throw will be rewarded with a chance at birdy while others may suffer.
There is only one Water shot and it's short but you need to be accurate to stay dry.
It's super quite out there and the walk is moslty shaded by huge mature trees.
CLEAN- i have never seen any trash out there.

Cons:

It is a camp and therefore prior permission is required to play so that it remains a safe place for children which is the primarily the function of the land.

Other Thoughts:

Thoughts for the future of TGAROL-
there is talk of going to a bag tag system that would require players to pay a once a year fee of $15 and fill out release to play.
This will allow the camp staff to know who is on the property.
During the busy summer months, they have talked about coming up with a "flag" system to allow DG'ers to know when it's open or closed. (think green is open and red is closed)
This information should be available on their website, on an actual flag pole, and on a voicemail that people could call before making the drive.

pretty fun new course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Nov 17, 2011 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

i think the tee signs are great. they have an A location and a B location. great baskets and they are double chained. good holes some cool tough long ones and some technical short ones. Great use of the land they had available. nice pads and nice owners.

Cons:

its on a christian camp so the director want let you always play it especially during the busy summer camp days. Got to play it on the weekend. It is hard to get in sometimes because of where the course is.

Other Thoughts:

has potential for a top level course. Needs to have tournaments here. No scorecards yet . i heard a rumor they were going to make it pay to play and maybe do a year membership sort of thing.
