Pros:
Well designed course with some great shots out there to be had. Challenging to play. Fantastic "Risk/Reward" course; makes you choose a lot between laying up or going for it. Built on top of an obsolete ball golf course this area drains exceptionally well. Other than #15 & #16 I have yet to encounter any standing water on the fairways. Recent addition of the "Largo" configuration gives this course a whole new look: bigger, longer, and more challenging!
Cons:
Many small lakes will get discs wet. The water isn't that deep, but it is very muddy so you can't see anything underwater. If you throw floaters you can get most of your discs back. No permanent above ground tee markers, must use the online map to find the in-ground bricks.
Other Thoughts:
Site for 2008 TX State Disc Golf Championships. 15 of 18 holes have water in play. Not many trees to contend with out here. Holes #2, #7, and #16 are the make or break a round holes for good players, if you can '3' those you'll have a good round.
Are *you* scared of the water??
Update: on Sep 21 '08 small colored brick tee markers were installed. The blue tee for #8 was moved 27' up the incline to the top. This will entice more players to "go for it" from the tee instead of laying up which was becoming all too common.
Update: October '08 There's a new monster layout available to play called "LINKS Largo". All 18 tees are marked with white bricks, drop zones are marked with yellow. The first nine holes play the course forward and the last nine play the course backwards (See the map). This is a great layout that is in line with today's longer courses that force you to make a long upshot and/or putt.
There's obviously a great deal of contention between forward and backward playing holes, as well as the standard vs. Largo configurations. But with the current low level of play this course sees it's not a problem.
