Weird little play but not bad

Reviewed: Played on:Feb 19, 2024 Played the course:once

Pros:

I basically bagged this one because it was near the airport and I needed stretch my legs after being cooped up. It's just three Patriot baskets in the corners of a large church parking lot with paver tees giving three options per basket. 1-3 are longer with 4-6 in the middle and 7-9 being pretty short. There are also "drop zone" locations for the OB and that would be a good spot to start kids teeing from.

The crazy thing about this little course, if it even can be called that, it's fun. Like I would consider coming again to a course I rated under a 2 fun. It makes no sense.

The tee signs are great, and there is some OB, and if you are more experienced you can play all the concrete and asphalt as OB and it's actually kind of hard. I also got an ace which would have been cool too.

Cons:

It's three Patriot baskets in a parking lot that during any sort of church activity would be unplayable and if a car happens to be parked in the wrong spot you can forget playing some of the holes.

The basket at the back of the property is fighting hard not to fall down. That's the one I almost aced and if it wasn't listing so much I think it would have caught.

Other Thoughts:

It's a silly little 9er and that's generous, but darn if the designer didn't have a decent idea and execution with probably next to no budget.

Baggers would get it, most people won't, but it's in between Estero and the airport so if you need to pad your course count coke check and see if the leaning basket is still standing.

Asphalt City

Reviewed: Played on:Dec 23, 2023 Played the course:once

Pros:

Nine tees that play to three different basket locations. Tees are pavers in excellent condition, and the tee signs are some of the best I've ever seen. Course plays through an empty church parking lot with the ability to throw different lengths of shots and also forehand/backhand, using a lightpole as a mando. Baskets are in good condition. You can also play from the drop zones to make it more family/kid friendly.

Cons:

Bring the old discs, as the course plays through a ton of parking lot asphalt and also curbs. One of the baskets plays close to a shrub that borders a very busy road, so a high, errant throw can reach the road, take great caution. One of the baskets was leaning and not upright when I played.

Other Thoughts:

It was less than 5 minutes from Estero, so I thought, what the heck, I'll come here and bag a course. That's really about it, worth bagging. This truly is asphalt city. If you come here expecting anything, it's your own asphalt. Not playable during church services or special events.

The Best Church Parking Lot Course Yet! 2+ years

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Mar 26, 2021 Played the course:once

Pros:

The best church parking lot course that I have played and yes it's not my first. This one has 3 baskets but nine legitimate tees with really nice tee signs. They help with figuring out which basket to throw at. The tees vary from preexisting sidewalks to newly installed pavers. The distances range from short to even mid-length. There are a few trees and man-made obstacles to shape around. There is some nice scenery on two sides of the course. The course is very close to FGCU. The course has some ob in the form of a drainage area around the hole 1 fairway that looks like it could be a water hazard in the rainy season with drop zones for errant throws.

Hole 1 starts right by the side of the church and a couple of holes play near the playground. That's some good exposure right there.

Cons:

There are only three baskets with 9 fairways zigzagging back and forth across each other. It wasn't a problem on an early Friday morning as we had the whole course to ourselves but get a couple 2 or 3 groups out there at the same time and it could prove interesting. The course plays in and around a parking lot and entrance road area so you may have to wait for cars to pass by and/or modify holes to avoid hitting parked cars. Strategic parking is required at this course. It can be windy and the course is next to a very busy road with everpresent road noise.

Other Thoughts:

It's good to see more church's installing courses. This course is hard to rate. It's a three-basket parking lot course, but it is also pretty nice for what it is. With so many church courses going in I hope they pick it up and start having church leagues. Church's could form teams and compete against each other. Hopefully, this is already happening! It's an easy bag and passable for a round if going to FGCU. If I lived in the subdivision across the street I would probably play it all the time.
