Pros:

Meier Lake is the newest premier disc golf course in the state of Alaska. Course designer Eric McCabe has put together another great course design and as of July 2020 the course is playable with 18 baskets and at least 1 tee pad per hole. Soon, the course will feature 2 baskets and 2 tee pads per hole.

The course offers a lot of variety as far as shot shape and distance. There is not a lot of openness to this course, instead players will weave through Birch trees and rolling hills will a couple of water hazards to boot.

Brand new DD Veteran baskets and concrete tee pads make for a top notch experience. Greens and tee areas are complimented with rock and lumber in some areas to create some extra beauty and design features.

Overall this course is going to be an absolute beauty. While it is still a bit rough and does need some "beating in", it is very much still very good in its current state which is only getting better by the week. This is a must stop for those vacationing to this part of the state.

Cons:

The course is very tight and still a bit rough around the edges. If you don't like challenging shots and a few guaranteed bad kicks throughout the round, this course may not be your cup of tea. However, as time goes on, things will open up and this course is going to get better with time.

This course is a bit of a drive from just about anywhere so this is more of a day trip destination. Drive time is about an hour from Anchorage.

The rough is a bit rough. Because the course is still in the beating in stage, the rough is a bit thick and discs can be a challenge to find. Again, this will improve over time.

Other Thoughts:

Big thank you to Dynamic Discs and Meier Lake Resort for putting such a fun and enjoyable course together. Alaska will benefit greatly from a course of this caliber and this will quickly become an instant favorite in the state. Can't wait to return in years to come.
