The more I play it, the better it gets!!! Has a huge variety of shots. Great location, cool layout, water hazards, lots of tough holes, nice driving range/putting green. Healthy disc trading market. Awesome handling of lost discs!

Odd backtracking to some tees, slows others.
Not really the best for beginners.
Crowded at times.
Also, the darn trees....

When you start to understand disc golf above the level of a recreational player, The Sinks really start to open up to you. My first round, cursing the trees and ponds. Having played it almost daily, more flight paths are opening up and the course is teaching me more every round!!!

This is a course that can humble some of the best players. It is challenging and yet still fun. It taught me very quickly distance isn't nearly as important as accuracy. I have played this course 2-3 times a week at least since I started playing more than a few times a year. I am just now getting brave enough to play the long pads. This course has helped my game a whole lot.

Hole 11 floods part of the winter (about 50 feet or so of the fairway) right where my drives normally land. Also the longer tee boxes arent too much longer but this really isn't too much of a con because they still change the way I have to play the course.

It is a fun course. It will challenge your accuracy every throw and make you jump for joy on some shots and kick your bag on others. Its brutal, yet I havent found a course that after a round of shooting under par so satisfying.

-Baskets in good condition
-Concrete pads
-Informational, but not overwhleming/confusing signs
-Benches at each pad, trash cans every few holes
-Good parking, front 9 ends by lot, making a quick 9 (front or back) easy.
-mostly fair fairways, not overcrowded with trees. The roughage is on the thick side, but didn't have too much of an issue.
-Two pads at each hole, with two pin positions.

-Some holes had multiple pins, which, for a first timer, can be confusing, but hole 15 had a third pin, that was even closer, which I ended up throwing at.
-A couple holes still had trees that didnt need to be there.
-Lots of partial backtracking from the pin, down and onto the fairway, to get to the next hole. I can see this at worst getting you thrown at. But I see it definitely holding up play, and overall flow of the course if its crowded. People behind you would have to wait for you to hole out, and then walk back. Just a few more seconds, but added up over the course, and then ripple it back down the line of groups, and it could add up.
-The first sinkhole was kind of neat, but after that, they were just kind of gross mucky/wet insect holes...don't know how I feel about them, but its enough to go in the cons..
-Hole 6 was one of those, no line, screen of late trouble trees holes that really annoys me. Makes me want to go with the course designer, ask "what line is intended to be thrown here?" and see him do it. I'll even give him multiple chances at it, but if he tells me that I need to thread "those two" trees, and S-curve around another set, and then make it through a tree trunk screen, I'm gonna call BS on him. Maybe there is a line, or a local route, that I didnt see, oh well.

I played short tees to short pins, partly because it was a new course, and partly because my coworker that tagged along wasnt a thrower, just chucking for fun.
Another thing though, the pin on 9 is elevated with tires. This is a pet peeve of mine, but I won't put it as a con, just a note. That and I almost aced it, skipped off the top of the basket.
I plan to hit the long tees tomorrow morning, and I'll update my review accordingly.

Gotta go to work, but I'll finish this review later! Maybe throw the longs tonight if I have some free time.

The whole concept to this review is the "what could have been" course. It seems obvious that the creators of this course pretty much just cut down the trees of this wooded area to make a DGC, which can be awesome but it wasn't. Too many trees are just left on the holes to where most of the time luck is favored instead of accuracy and skill. There is even a hole where only half the tree is cut down, which sits conveniently 20 ft from the tee pad and directly in the way of the exact flight path you need to take!!!! (somebody, anybody, please just quietly cut the rest of that tree down). This course could be considered technical, but there is better out there to hone your technical part of the game. If this is the best Chattanooga offers, then I am sorry, but just make the drive to Cloudland instead for a better time. Sorry to be so judging, but what irks me most is that this course could have been much, much more. Sweet area for a DGC though.

-The Sinks has character that you don't always find on a disc golf course. There are lots of little things that give this course personality that you just have to play to see.

-Excellent course flow! You never have to pick a path and guess where the next hole is, it's either marked by a "Next Tee" sign or was a fairly obvious transition.

-There were 2 concrete Tee Pads on every hole which were plenty long enough for a good run-up.

-The Sinks requires a wide-variety of shots to score well.
-Despite being tightly wooded, the fairways are definitely there. I never walked up to a tee pad and thought, "Wow, this is a plinko hole". Every hole had at least one distinct line and if you hit it well, then you're inside the 30' circle. If your shot is off, you will be punished with a difficult approach. This course does well at taking out luck as a factor.

-This is the only course I have ever seen with a driving range that has a basket. Nice Touch!

-The course area is disc golf only. There are no walking paths or little league to contend with.

-Secluded feel.

-Despite having 2 tee pads per hole, they were usually close together and were seldom unique from one another.

-We played during the afternoon when it was 103 degrees, so there were not a whole lot of people there, but we were told that this course tends to be extremely busy when the weather is nice. Being the only 18-hole course in Chattanooga (and a good one at that) I would expect holes to be backed up a lot.

-I would be hesitant to play this course after decent rainfall because I would expect lots of put and sink holes filled with water.

-The course could use some maintenance, there were a few stumps that were just left that you could trip over. Also, the sink holes were a probably. Although, they did provide a unique challenge on some holes, there were a couple filled with water when played which is just asking for you to lose your disc in a murky hole. There were a couple that were located near pins where it seemed to be random chance if you ended up in a sink hole or on flat land.

This course was fantastic. It's not the longest course out there by any means, but is a gem as far as tight and technical courses go.

•Sometimes (not usually) the trash cans can overflow and there will be mounds of "soda bottles and cans" around them. But that's not a serious con, just nitpicking.

I love playing at The Sinks. I don't get up there as much as most that are close to it, but I have been enough to remember what shots are required for each hole. I know that I enjoy it 10x more now that I can kind of throw versus when I first started. Great course that I always look forward to playing.

There are certainly more good things about playing here than bad. The course is well maintained and it is all done by local volunteers. I would say that the majority of holes certainly favor RHBH throws, but there are several that are anhyzer or RHFH throw friendly. I am sure that those who frequently use tomahawks or thumbers appreciate certain holes as well, I just don't throw them that often.

Given my playing level (I only play total 1-2 times a week) I consider this a challenging course, but not overly hard. There are certainly plenty of birdie opps (playing Par 3), and some holes you just have to play smart. If you really want the challenge though and are a better player, just step back a teepad and play the longer pins where there are multiples. I prefer to play short tees still, as the longer tees are just too taxing on my ability level.

There is a good reason this place always has plenty of players, you can really hone your game here.

The Sinks presents a technical challenge among heavy woods and well protected greens. Before you even get started on this course, there's several nice amenities to help you warm up. A nice "driving" range out in the open with tee pads goes out to around 350' with a basket placed at about 250' so you don't start the round stiff. This range is good for mid range shots but not full on drives, there isn't enough room. On the course, each hole contains dual tees and dual benches with well worn paths to each. Also, each hole has at least two pin placements with some containing three (A, B, C). I like the fact that the signs indicate which sleeve the basket is in so you don't have to go searching. Each tee sign shows the location of each tee, pin placements, their distances, as well as any relevant mandos/OBs. The layout forces a variety of shot shapes with every changing distances from hole to hole. This kept the course feeling fresh without a sense of repetition. Even from the long pads, there were quite a few birdie-able holes but not without a clean drive (or very lucky kick). A few of the holes have established multiple fairways to allow different shot shapes but not clearly picking one will leave you scrambling for a route to the green. I found many of the greens well protected with anything from hanging vines off the tree, cedars, to clusters of baby oaks in and around the circle. This increases the luck factor greatly. Without much elevation available, the use of sinkholes on several greens provides the chance for a roll away or a dangerous putting situation. Several of the deep sinkholes that would normally be dangerous footing to get into and out of have staircases built to alleviate this problem. The rough throughout the course can be a large enough headache throwing out of but have beaten in paths to at least walk on towards an errant disc. With the rough as thick as it is, it does provide a nice sense of seclusion in that you won't see many other groups on other holes and you can feel separated from everything else.

Being as I played this for the first time (yesterday) and there being plenty of leaves on the ground, I found myself stumbling in multiple baby sinkholes that were undetectable. I'm sure that this is not a problem during the warmer months but beware. I was not a fan of the artificial OB on number 18. Even a good drive there unfortunate enough to have a bad kick could be OB and without ever leaving the woods. There's too much luck involved with that shot. As with the protected greens, the luck factor of getting a good kick and a bad kick could make a 20 foot putt into a 60 putt or worse is too great to ignore. With the propensity of disc golfers to carry food/drink with them during a round, there were hardly any trash cans out on the course. Please pack it in and pack it out.

Only playing the course once, I didn't feel like I got to enjoy the entire experience of The Sinks with the multiple pin placements and tees. I'd like the come back and play these different layouts and experience the different challenges this course presents. Overall, it can challenge most any golfer to hit their lines and make those valuable birdie putts. More skilled players will enjoy it to hit their spots and work large shot shapes down the fairways while less skilled players can appreciate and learn more technical golf while having fun.

Not a lot or Risk/reward. The lines are pretty well defined and require precision, but it's pretty straight forward how you should play each hole to score well.
Not a lot of trashcans to keep the place tidy, but it was pretty clean nonetheless.

I played this course today in preparation for a tournament, and I really enjoyed it.
It made me really slow down and consider the path that is laid out in front of me, and punished me when I tried to get "fancy".
A lot of "technical" courses are just all woods and require a lot of luck...
This one...will reward the good shots, and not punish you with a ghost limb...

Beautiful course to play in the Fall, the colors of the leaves were amazing. Two tees for each hole and multiple pin placements. A very technical course that challenges every shot you have.

Didn't like the amount of back tracking on the holes to get to the next tee. Didn't see many trash cans and it could probably use them. There wasn't much trash on the ground but if there were more trash cans there probably wouldn't be any.

Unfortunately we were played this course while on a road trip and we got rained out after 9 holes. I would have liked to play all 18 but the 9 we played were good!

This is one course I usually skip to play. I just do not like SUPER tight wooded holes. I'll go to Sheperd down the road before I go to the sinks. Still a great course, if you're into that sort of thing.

Cut some of the smaller vines and trees out and open the fairways up some.

The goods about the sinks far out way the bad, it is a great course. Most holes are relativity tough with the exception of 2 or three short ace race holes. Large Parking lot, putting practice area and a driving range! wow. Trash cans and benches at each tee! A guy there while we were playing mowing and maintaining the course! This course is well taken care of and a great place for any skill level with multiple tee pads and various pen locations on each hole.

Mosquitoes... they were awful. There was no way of telling which pen position the hole was in from the tee on many of the holes with out walking most of the fairway until you could see the pen. Holes 4,5,6 were dog legs that you had to back track back down the fairway to get to the next hole, I could see this causing major back up on a busier day than a Thursday morning. The driving range is only 350ft... warmed my putters and rocs up but then again most of the holes you are not going to bust out a hyper speed disc anyway, unless you enjoy bashing trees.

Overall the course was sweet, played multiple rounds and I am sure I will go back. Most of the locals we encountered seem nice and friendly.

Wooded course requiring a variety of shots. Extra teepads and baskets (3 on a couple holes!) all for players of all levels to find something challenging. Great volunteer support to maintain and continually improve this course. Lots of benches on each hole. Good signage. Putting basket and 350+ driving range with pads. Great turnout for Sunday doubles (morning & afternoon).

Everything is in the woods. Porta-potty is only restroom near course.

Fun course and a must-play if you are in the Chattanooga area.

Very well maintained. Many different types of shots, all are wooded. Pretty technical. 2 concrete tee boxes for each hole. Most holes offer multiple pin placements. Course is good about letting you know which pin placement is currently in use. There are several, 5-6 trash cans on the course, PLEASE USE, and feel free to criticize those that dont use and feel the need to litter.

Mosquitos during skeeter season ( be smart, bring spray) Course can get a bit crowded at times. Other than that, no real cons. This is a great course for all skill sets.

Great course. We like to keep it clean, so if you are visiting, please pitch in. Please no cig butts on the gound as it is very dry sometimes and can cause fires.

This is the only 18 hole course in the chattanooga area. The best part is 2 teepads and 2 pin locations for every hole. So basically you can play 18, 36, 54, or 72 holes. All you have to do is switch it up after each round. This course also is more evenily matched with needing a backhand or a flick shot. A lot of holes have option for either on it due to the trees. I love this course for its challenges and its diversity.

My only complaint is the croud. Not that I have problem with people but more so the waiting at each hole just to play a qauick game. Its almost impossible to do. That being said it is the only 18 hole course in chat so what else do you expect.

I would highly recommend this course to anyone who likes a little challenge. Not every hole is challenging but 75 percent are. Also this course is played a lot as I stated earlier so anytime I go I take a trash bag and help pick up some of the garabage that people have left behind. Its not a trashed course but does have litter due to people not caring.

The course plays through dense woods on a mostly flat piece of land. Several sinkholes come into play, including a deep one that has ladders going down so you can retrieve your disc, and a couple that seemed like they were small permanent water hazards. They made for a different type of obstacle than you usually see, which is fun.

There are dual tees on every hole, and every hole has 2-3 pin positions. This makes for a great deal of variety, especially since several of the long tees offer a slightly different line or an extra pinch point to navigate. The pin positions often change things up quite a bit, if they're rotated reasonably often it would offer a nice change of pace. The set up I played had a great mix of left and right turning holes, and a decent mix of short and long holes with some ace runs and some that required longer controlled shots through the woods.

The course obviously sees a ton of traffic. It's pretty beat down, which leads to erosion and mud on a rainy day. The sinkholes that have water in them are very murky, and seem like they would swallow discs, it's always nice to be able to retrieve them from water hazards. I loved seeing the tee signs show which pin position was in use, but the washer and screw were missing on several holes.

I had a great time playing here, and would definitely recommend it if you're passing through. It offers great options, with dual tees and even a few holes with permanent dual pins, so different levels of players can find an appropriate challenge. True beginners might find it a little tight and punishing of errant shots. More experienced players will find some great accuracy challenges, though there aren't any holes that require all that long of shots to score well.

Big parking lot with excellent signage and putting area. Lost disc drop box should be standard at all courses. Very pretty course (cool scenic walk to 13) Nice locals. I liked the baskets. They had thinner chains and really crashed when I hit them.

Could be more trash cans. Lot of sharp dogleg holes (left or right) I felt like I was shooting around corners a lot.

I felt like there was a bit of overlap. When we would walk from the the hole to the next tee, we had to walk through the fairway. I feel like people getting hit by discs is probably a common problem out here. The driving range was basically hole 19. Road on the left and fairway to the right. Thought it would be more open.... Very enjoyable course and I hope to be back soon.

I enjoyed this course. Coming from Florida, i am used to more open holes. Sure, we have our tight shots around trees and water but this was a bit different. I did not see an open hole. This made it challenging. I highly recommend this course!

The Sinks has almost everything you could ask for in a disc golf course. Two concrete tee pads on each hole. At least two pin placements on most holes. Some holes had baskets in both positions. A driving range along with multiple tee boxes. A putting practice basket. Benches and signs at every hole. Water when it's hot outside, a gnome, and the kitchen sink. This is a very versatile course containing a good mix of shots at any distance. Through woods without much elevation (unless you land in one of the "Sinks"). One of the most well equipped courses I have had the pleasure of visiting.

The sinkholes scattered through the course looked very intimidating (some of them had ladders to climb out of them). I showed up just before a league tournament that played everything from the short tees to the short pins, and was able to avoid them. I'm sure the longer layouts would make them more prominent. Water was in play on two or three holes when I played, after a dry spell. I heard it gets a little more messy after rain.

The group I played with at the weekly were good guys, and I enjoyed the local wisdom imparted by the TD Josh, and Jim and Russ. Finding the park was sort of tough, but the directions posted are as good as I could do if asked to describe them. If you make it through the traffic circles on the right path, be looking to the left for the park entrance across from the plant.
