The Trail

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Mar 14, 2024 Played the course:once

Pros:

--Practice basket. It's not very sturdy, but it's there.
--Two tee pads per hole. This is only really a pro if you consider this a 9-hole course. There is no agreement on whether this is a 9- or 18-hole course. We list it as 18 holes, and ALL of the signage at the course agrees with that. However, the course designer told me it's a 9-hole course. Given the layout and 9 baskets, I would agree. I played holes 1-9 as the short tees; holes 10-18 use the same baskets but play longer.
--Veteran baskets.
--Best navigational aids I have ever seen on a course. Orange markers on the bottoms of baskets to direct you to the next tee as well as signs attached to trees. Clearly defined trails through the thousands of pine trees. Holes 1-9 have white posts for the tee signs; 10-18 have yellow posts.
--Trash cans throughout the course.
--Turf tee pads. They vary some in size, but many of them were 5x14.
--The best stretch of holes is 5-7. Five is uphill just short of 300 feet RHBH hyzer. The basket is close to an OB fence right, so a slight pull or a bad kick off a tree could land you OB. There is a narrower alternate path RBFH. Six is 236 feet slightly uphill through a fairly narrow tunnel to a basket on the right edge. A guardian tree blocks your direct path to the basket, which is on a small plateau with higher ground right and a slope down on the left. The par-4 seventh is the longest hole on the course at 474 feet. The tee is elevated and you throw over the corner of an OB parking lot. Depending on your line, it takes 200-275 feet to clear the parking lot. The longer distance is right, which gives you a better line through the trees/bushes to the basket on your approach. The basket is on a small hill.
--A couple of holes have dozens of logs cut and arranged that act as both a border for the green and a potential place to sit. There is also a bench at No. 1 tee.

Cons:

--No map, restroom or water.
--No water in play.
--Large parts of the course feel secluded, but No. 1 plays beside a major highway, and 2 and 7 tee from near busy roads.
--I love woods courses, but there is a repetitive feeling here.

Other Thoughts:

--Two mandos, both for safety reasons. On right side of No. 1 to keep you from throwing toward/over a major highway and on the right side of 9 to keep you away from a building and playground.
--Much-shorter tee pads (described as kid-friendly) are in the works.

Technical Church Course 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Apr 22, 2022 Played the course:once

Pros:

2 pads Great unique wood signs. Through woods. Many different shots needed to navigate the forest. Good baskets and flow

Cons:

only 9 baskets and could get crowded pretty easy. Some shots are really tight in the woods.

Other Thoughts:

A great addition to the area.
