Solid 9 holer 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 7, 2014 Played the course:once

Pros:

A variety of shots, some elevation play, and risk vs. reward opportunities
While this is a multiuse park, it is not crowded and bystanders are not an issue.
Some memorable holes, nothing spectacular. Holes 5, 6, and 7 are good on their own merits, but get gimmicky as a set.

Cons:

Tees needed maps for blind holes and course could use some navigational aides. Hole 3 is easy to skip, and the tee for 8 is between baskets 5 and 7.
At hole 5 the basket is precariously close to a drop off, so your putting needs to be on. This was a nice touch until they repeated the same gimmick on holes 6, 7, and 8. It was as if the designer looked for drop offs and put half the baskets directly infront of them and built the hole to cater to the basket, especially on hole 8. It was as if the fairway was secondary to the basket being on a drop off for the fourth hole in a row.
Tee pads are not clearly defined yet
Lakebodom said it best, the baskets look like they were put up hastily. The chains are tangled up, especially hole 9 basket.
Hole 9 fairway is knee to waste deep foiliage waiting to eat your disc before you leave.
Bathrooms locked (monday 2pm)

Other Thoughts:

The course was a decent 9 holer, but needs more work and some of the problems from original instalation can be fixed. Instead of cute names for each hole, a small map of the hole would be much more useful.

Pros:

Much more challenging layout than most 9-hole courses.

Pretty even mix of long, wide open holes, and short, technical wooded holes.

Shaded picnic table area close to the parking lot.

A number of soccer fields surround the course so there is plenty of room for field practice to warm up.

Close in proximity to many other courses in the area. Great location for a warm up round or a quick 9 in between rounds.

Cons:

Still very new. Tees on some holes have not been clearly defined (1, 4, 9)

Signage is to come shortly, however none is present currently.

Baskets appear to be installed in haste since many have tangled chains.

Make sure to have access to the course map the first time you play. Navigation can be a bit of a challenge.

A few of the holes (1, 2, 4) play alongside a few if the athletic fields in the park. Much of the course will be unplayable during practice and games.

The walk from hole 9 back to the parking lot is a bit long. Not much of a con other than having a basket to warm up on is quite a ways away.

Other Thoughts:

All things considered, this is definitely one of the better 9-hole courses I've played.

Hole 1: Tees through a short tunnel into a soccer field. Best line is a Righty-Hyzer/Lefty Turnover. There is a swail about 20 feet in front of the basket, so water comes into play on the approach.

Hole 2: Wide open hole with the swail from Hole 1 running down the center.

Hole 3: Tight tunnel shot with water running down the entire left side. Basket is on the right side, So a straight forehand for a Right-handed player is probably best from the tee.

Hole 4: Wide open hole with woods to the left and a soccer field to the right. Basket is located to the left.

Hole 5: Tees through a very narrow uphill tunnel. There is a bunch of reeds growing out of the ground after the uphill area that may stop your disc. Basket is to the right and sits on a death putt green sloping down the right.

Hole 6: No clearly defined fairway. This hole is a true poke n' hope the whole way through. Basket is to the right and sits on another death putt green with steep slopes running down the left and right.

Hole 7: A little more open than the two previous wooded holes. Straight to slight Hyzer line is probably best for Right-handed players. Basket is to the left and sits on yet another death putt green with steep slopes in front of and behind the basket.

Hole 8: Tees through a very narrow tunnel. Approach is heavily guarded with trees. Basket sits on another death putt green that slopes in front of and behind the basket.

Hole 9: Tees down a service road. there is a pond to the left of the fairway. Basket is to the left.

Layout as is is very challenging. definitely designed with a more experienced player in mind. Shorter tees are rumored in the future for less experienced players.
