Nice Walk in the Park 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 19, 2017 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

A decent layout of 18 holes that wind through a couple of different areas. The early and late holes are over irrigated grass and through widely spaced mature trees. The middle holes (6 thru 13) play in a dryer area full of thick Russian Olive trees and low brush. These holes are significantly more challenging.

Modest hole lengths from 185' to 415'.

There are a couple of different types of baskets, but all are in good shape and catch well. Gravel/dirt teepads are good sized and bordered with heavy timbers. Tee signs are the old-style fiberglass and give distance and par along with a crude hole diagram. Signs also include a "Next Tee" arrow that is useful if you remember to look for it.

Navigation is pretty straightforward, and several signs pointing to the next tee are helpful in the thicker areas.

Large parking area with restrooms, trash cans, etc. Nice views of the river from some holes, but it was never really in play.

Cons:

The gravel/dirt teepads are getting pretty chewed up. Some were lumpy enough that footing was compromised. Others had gravel pushed out and covering the front edge.

The holes over the grass were fine, but not particularly challenging. The holes in the Russian Olive groves were often blind and gave some disc finding challenges if you ended up off of the fairway.

Other Thoughts:

This is a good state park course. Short enough for beginners but enough challenge to keep more experienced players engaged.
