Pros:

Though I am going to talk a lot about the Pros of this course, there are one or two cons that take the rating way, way down for me. So please keep in mind that I am trying to be as objective as possible. And as the folks from DGCR remind us in the rating suggestions area, "Not every course deserves a high rating."
That said, let's talk about the good things.

Baskets - Spiderweb 3 baskets. Though not my favorite target, these do catch fine and they are newer. I like the blue paint job also.

Pads - two sets of concrete pads. The short pads sit near the signs, and the long pads have all of the information for the holes painted into them. This is actually a super good idea and I like how big these pads are. Though the longs don't add that much difference to the course, they are there and offer a chance to play 18 holes on 9 baskets. So pretty cool.

shots - if you play the walking paths, fields, ball diamonds, play grounds, and residential areas as out of bounds, this course can be as hard as any you've ever played. There is a good variety of shots too. Hole 6 felt like the signature hole to me. A neat, long, tunnel shot that plays through some beautiful trees. The individual holes are interesting and require a lot of technical skill to stay in bounds.

signs - perfect. These are the gold standard of signs. I don't know where these were made, but they should be at every course. Each pin and tee pad are clearly marked, and the signs are big enough to be able to see everything. Love these signs!

x factors - there a beautiful course map when you start at hole 1. This was very helpful in getting us started.
The shots toward the water tower are neat.

Cons:

Two things that drag this course way down. And while not the courses fault, they are things...so...

The park - There is no way that you could use this course if there are people playing baseball or walking out there. Two of the holes throw by the outfield fence. One of them uses the baseball diamond as an on obstacle. All of the holes have the walking path coming in to play. Which, why cool for the disc golf shot, is a problem if someone is walking. One of the holes throws at a picnic shelter/playground. You aren't playing that hole if someone is up there. Another hole plays about 10 feet from a main road. Holes 7 and 8 play up against a residential area, and one of those houses has several dogs that REALLY want to chew your face off. Overall, the course feels crammed into too small of an area. I get it. They were working with what they had. But at the end of the day, they had to shove 10 acres of course into a 4 acre area.

the flow was...weird. While a small area, I am not sure I understand a couple of the choices for where the course went, if that makes sense. you have to double back a couple of times, and you have to cross over other fairways to get to holes. It felt like they could have made hole 3 where 7 is now, and that would have made it a natural circle around the park. And it would have kept you from having to walk across other fairways. And this seemed like an obvious design flaw to me.

Other Thoughts:

At the end of the day, this is a disc golf course that simply suffers from the space they put it into. If the park is empty, then you are fine. Play away and enjoy the course (just don't throw it in someone's yard, or the road. which is crazy easy to do).
But if there is a car anywhere on the course, or another person playing, or a kid on a playground, or anything along those lines, the course becomes virtually unplayable. And because of that, unfortunately, I have to rate this course as just "decent".

Samuel Jones Disc Golf Course 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Dec 21, 2014 Played the course:once

Pros:

*Brand new concrete teepads
*New Spider baskets
*A few really good holes
*A beginner course in an extremely small town in the middle of nowhere right off interstate
*Great signage
*Amazing course map and kiosk
*Hanging basket on hole 8
*Hole 5 plays next to the water tower. Can't think of another course that has that.

Cons:

*Hole 1 plays down a walking path with a 10" wide fairway for 200' between a tennis court fence and farm field. May not be playable when the corn is up.
*Hole 2 is another 10' wide fairway down a gravel road between the other side of the tennis court fence and a baseball field fence.
*Crossed 5's fairway in front of the basket from 4 to 5.
*Hole 9's fairway is the park road. Nothing on the sign saying there's a mando keeping you from taking the park road

Other Thoughts:

There's a gravestone behind 6 and 9's tees: Samuel Jones I think it was. Pretty nice touch of history on a disc golf course!

Great course to stretch the legs while traveling I-69. Worth playing to play holes 5, 6, and 7.

It's great that a small town is willing to support disc golf. Not sure if multiple tee pads and pin locations are needed here.
