iIn the Valley of the Troll 2+ years

Pros:

this course is awesome! super well maintained. the holes are well designed and many are extremely technical. good lines. orange baskets are very easy to see in the Maine woods, so no hunting for pin location. makes you use every shot you have.
clubhouse with discs and gear, snack bar...cold beer on tap!

Cons:

no cons for me!
actually, the only thing i would say (and it isn't negative for me) is that, like a lot of other Maine courses, many of the holes are listed as par 4's, where in Va they would be 3's. this being the case, i scored my very first eagle on hole 4!

Other Thoughts:

i am from Virginia and was in Maine for a few days on a disc golf vacation. Troll Valley was on my list of "to do's" even before a disc golf friend in New Hampshire recommended it, and boy, am i glad it was! i arrived at around 3 in the afternoon on a wednesday and was greeted by Pa Troll on the front porch of the clubhouse. this guy is someone every disc golfer should meet. he is truly a warm, pleasant, outwardly friendly human being. when i asked about camping, he took me in his car on a drive around of the camp sites on the disc golf course. i chose a beauty, in an island of large trees between holes 10 and 18. it was an awesome spot!(gonna try to put pics on troll valley fb page)...
i set out to play my first round after i got camp set up, and and was immediately thrilled with the course design and layout. on hole 3 or 4 i shanked one hard right off the tee and was looking for about ten minutes when a local player showed up to help me. she (D) was really friendly, and after we found my disc, she played the rest of the course with me. this was very helpful, as she knew the course and all its intricacies extremely well. this lady could throw!!
later, i met Pa's family and a guy (B) who is not only helping develop new holes, but also is maintaining and improving the current course. he is also a ranked pro. so...it was a thrill later, on day two, when i got the chance to play a round with B, D, and even Pa himself (for a few holes). what a good time! after, B took me on a special run of holes that are currently under development. WOW!! i can say that, when these holes open up my rating will jump from 4 to 4.5-5!! this place is already amazing, but with these holes open, it will be a must do disc golf destination.
i had a killer time! all i can say, folks, is go. experience this place for yourself. there is some special magic there!

Pros:

This course is in process of being installed. I showed up to play it in late July thinking it was in as it was listed on the PDGA site. Not so, but the owner walked me around (on his on volition!) about a third of the course to show me what was going on. The use of fairways, elevation and natural terrain will make this a go-to location. I did not see any reasons that the course won't eventually be fantastic!

Cons:

Once it is in, this list might happen but until I really get to play it, I can not tell you any bad parts.

Other Thoughts:

I just wish I was going to be in Farmington within the next couple of months to see this course and play it. Why didn't they think of this stuff when I was in college 20 years ago?!!! It would have been a great thing to do in Farmington!!!!
