Very fun course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:May 24, 2020 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

Very well maintained course. A lot of fun with many "shot shaping" opportunities and not just "throw your arm out" shots trying to get close enough to find the basket.
Very family and dog friendly.
Challenging for my intermediate level boys and myself.
Good tee pads.
Fairly well marked signage (better than most in Alabama)
Practice tee area as well as a large open field to warm up on.

Cons:

Like above, fairly well marked signage but first time playing I had to walk ahead a bit to find baskets. Not a big problem as I often do this on new courses.
Some baskets are not in use so we're trying to figure out what we missed the first time we played it.
I use Udisc to score and the holes/pars don't seem to sync. Not a deal breaker.

Other Thoughts:

We drive the 50 minutes from Montgomery to play this course so we obviously like it a lot. We also take our two medium dogs on leashes who love to walk the terrain with us. (We clean up after our dogs).

It really is a well maintained course that exists on purpose. Some courses are just thrown out there in the fields or woods without real maintenance. This is a very nice course.

Amazing course for the area. 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 31, 2018 Played the course:once

Pros:

Very accessible well maintained and a variety of shots.
Family friendly.
Not much water only comes in to play on 2 holes.

Cons:

Might be easy/boring for more experienced players.
Was a lot of mud and some remnants of ongoing construction but doesn't have a major impact.

Other Thoughts:

One of the best disc golf courses in central/east Alabama.

Great course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:May 2, 2018 Played the course:once

Pros:

This course is in a very nice park and is wonderfully maintained. I got out there at about 6 on a Monday and it wasn't super packed. 2 friendly locals let me join them as soon as I rolled up they offered. This course doesn't have a bunch of bomber holes besides a couple par 4's but it has fun shots with cool lines to take to get to the pin.
Plenty of should I
A)throw a thumber over the top
B) throw a backhand turnover
C) hyzer around it
D)throw a mid or putter right at it.
I really loved that about the course. The fact that you can navigate the obstacles in many different ways with moltiple holes in the woods and in the open. Some playing left to right, some right to left. Most in the 200-300ish range where it's users choice on whatever disc you want to throw to get there but not in a way like at a wide open boring course. There are still obstacles and consequences for not executing unlike alot of pick your shot courses.

Cons:

Hole 8 (not 100% sure that was the hole #) got wiped out by some road work but is still throwable.
If I wasn't playing with a couple locals I probably would have been confused at times navigating to the next holes. Especially the few that play from the walking path instead of the tee pad. Also not a fan of throwing from a walking path/ sidewalk because if I shank one I could shwack some lady speed walking or something.

Other Thoughts:

Was in Columbus Ga for work and wanted to play something better than what columbus had to offer ( flat rock is ok I guess) so I drove the 30 or 40 minutes to Opelika and I'm glad I did. Not blow your mind good but fun and thats what this game is all about for me.

update recently 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Mar 6, 2018 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

new blue tee pads and new pin placements are an improvement to the course. It's a technical course that can create some big variations in scoring.

Cons:

It can get crowded. The area could probably use another course.

Worth the time 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jan 30, 2016 Played the course:once

Pros:

Easy to follow
Restrooms at the start (but not anywhere else)
Nice tee signs
Baskets were upgraded

Cons:

Water was a factor on two holes (not a big deal but just so you know)

Other Thoughts:

It was very windy when I was out there playing for the Frost Bite Open.
You need both distance and technical game.

Great Course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:May 18, 2014 Played the course:once

Pros:

This is a beautiful course seems to be very well kept. The grass was cut throughout the course. The signs are great condition. You can tell that the local players take good care of the course.

The overall layout of the course flows very smoothly. The Red tees are great for beginners, while the blue tees offer some challenging throws for the more experienced players.

Cons:

The only problem I had with the course was that some of the blue tees utilize a rubber mat that has not been secured properly. I found that I had to focus more on my footing, so that I would not trip on the edge of the mat in my run up.

Other Thoughts:

I had to drive about 35 minutes to get to the course, and I would gladly make the trip again. It is a great course. I am looking forward to making another visit soon.
