Pros:

When you combine the front 9 with the back 9 you get a taste of some extreme variety. The front is very open with a few baskets located on hills. The back 9 is heavily wooded with narrow paths.

Cons:

Leave your driver at home...you won't need it. The front 9 is very open and pretty short. The back 9 is short and packed with trees.

The back 9 is almost impossible to find and is difficult to navigate. Tee boxes are hard to find and there is no signage giving you direction.

Other Thoughts:

The parking lot splits the front and back 9. The back nine is across the road entering the campus, buried in the woods.

It's a fun little course, but if you are in town for a limited time I would play another course.

Tale of Two Courses 2+ years drive by

Pros:

Very well maintained front 9: reachable, straightforward holes here, with a few on hillsides to challenge your accuracy in putting. A great course for short-range practice and for beginners (front 9). The back 9 is insanely tight and challenging - sometimes there's hardly a clear line: it's that tight.

Cons:

The back 9 is forgotten, overgrown, and not marked well. The front 9 gets fairly repetitive for more experienced players. Needs better navigation signs to show where to go next (especially on that back 9).

Other Thoughts:

Of all four courses in Tyler, this is the least interesting. Its not awful by any means: you get a chance to work on midrange, but the lack of directions on the back 9 make it arduous.

BTW - hole 10 is across the campus road (not the big street) in the woods.
