Pros:
+ Upper Sandusky Reservoir used to be a solid course that hosted a few major events back in its prime. Now it sits overgrown and debris covered. The park itself is beautiful! The course, not so much.
+ 18 holes and 18 concrete pads.
+ The first three holes are actually very solid and not totally destroyed like the rest of the course is.
+ Looks like it used to be a great course. The design isn't too bad, and there's a few fun holes despite its abysmal conditions.
+ Tape on every basket helps you find the way around, but navigation can get tricky in spots.
Cons:
- Only two tee signs remain (3 and 17). The rest of the "signs" are just wood posts with nothing on them.
- Several tee pads are almost entirely covered in thick mud and debris. It looks like a flood cams through and it was never cleaned up.
- Toppled trees and hanging branches on several fairways. Some baskets are rusted out and covered in hanging grass from the floods.
- The massive hill next to the reservoir wasn't used. Really a bummer, could've had a few epic downhill shots.
- Grass can get shin high in the wooded area. Doesn't look like it gets mowed very much.
Other Thoughts:
From my understanding, Upper Sandusky hosted a few pretty big sanctioned tournaments back when it opened around 2010. With nobody keeping the course up, it'll fade into the disc golf graveyard soon enough. Hopefully a local steps up and puts in some MAJOR effort to rehabilitate it and bring quality disc golf back to Upper Sandusky.
