Pros:

Very simple to navigate. The course starts all the way to the left of the school complex, just beyond the tennis courts. The holes then just play basically in a straight line, in-between the school to the left and the creek to the right. The tees are marked by wooden posts with the hole #, par and length listed on them. The baskets are the 28 chain Discatchers. There is a practice basket near the running track, across the creek from the tennis courts. The grass was nicely mowed.

The course would be good for a quick putter only or putter/mid round. For reference I throw right around 300' max distance. Some variety considering only 5 holes. Throwing RHBH, 2 holes favor an anhyzer and the other 3 hyzer or straight tee shots. Would be ok for HS gym classes, with some cons.

Cons:

Only 5 holes... 5 short holes... 5 mostly open holes... 5 holes with areas in play that shouldn't be... 5 dead flat holes... 4 of 5 holes with the creek in play.

OK, they shoe-horned 5 holes into a very small footprint. This can be good (It's a course.) and bad. There are lots of chances to hit things that shouldn't be hit. The tennis courts are easily in play on #1. The driveway, parking areas, buildings, and sidewalks are in play constantly. During the school year, not even during the restricted hours, people on campus will easily be brought into play.

The creek could easily come into play on 4 of 5 holes as the course parallels it. For new players, I could see a lot of wet, possibly lost, discs.

Other Thoughts:

OK. I know I seem terribly down on the course. The safety issues just make it hard for me to be very positive. I won't lie, though, I did have a little fun. Of course, I only saw 2 people outside and they were under a canopy by the tennis courts waiting out the rain. Since only 5 holes I'll do a summary for each.

#1. The longest hole at around 240' has the tennis courts on the left for about the last 1/3 of the hole. It's a slight right turner with a low ceiling on the right so you have to kind of go out towards the tennis courts a little.

#2. Short and straight ahead in an island like area surrounded by the driveway all the way around.

#3. Short, wide open, tees off with school building immediately to the left. Anything drifting right of the pin has a chance of getting wet.

#4. Take the bridge across the creek and tee off from beside the parking lot. Basically the same hole as #3 but your throwing over the creek, back towards the school, instead of towards the creek.

#5. Another short hole, but this one seemed to call for a high anhyzer as there are trees in the right side next to the creek to avoid.

I doubt that I ever go back. But it wasn't a waste of time since I was in the area anyway. If you go in with very limited expectations, then you should be ok. Or if you're new to the sport it might be good fun.

So it's cool that the school has this available to them. I just hope that nobody gets hurt.
