Impressive Challenge Course & Climbing Wall! 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 4, 2015 Played the course:once

Pros:

The Vergennes Community Disc Golf Course starts with hole 1 at the right field corner of the girl's softball field. Then 2-3-4- 5 & 6 play over at the elementary school in some order. 7-9 play in the corner of the high school field before 10-12 play over, under and around the more than awesome challenge course and climbing wall. 13 & 14 play along end of the field before 15-17 play closest to the school and then you finish with # 18. It's kind of a cool hyser shot around the backstop back to your starting point.

The tee pads are these smallish concrete blocks. They have the hole # and distance painted on them. They're really difficult to locate and I proved that by missing about half of them.

The signature hole on the course for me is probably not even a real hole. I threw off the big wooden tee pad to the basket across the elementary field by the tennis courts. Is that wooden structure a tee pad? It should be! Is that # 6? It should be!

Cons:

Navigation sucks with these crummy little patio block tee pads. The on-line map I printed off was minuscule and hard to decipher.

Other than my # 6 and # 18, the other holes were mostly boring open fields throws.

Course/or some holes are not available during school hours or during practices or games.

Other Thoughts:

This course certainly suffers from HBB (Home Boy Bias) in it's lofty rating. Sorry, but a boring flat, open course with no tee pads and no signage does not deserve an above average rating. On the other hand, the Vergennes High School Challenge Course & Climbing Tower would more than likely merit a 5 in my rating standard. Is there a way we can incorporate the challenge course into the disc golfing? Like having to climb the tower to make your putt on # 12 or perhaps installing a basket high on the challenge course and forcing disc golfers to hook up to complete the hole.

Now for more bad news for the Vergennes HS students, their softball and baseball fields didn't look any better than the disc golf course. Man, this is 2015, I see high school kids all over the country getting to play on terrific ball fields now!
