Pros:

Nine (well, eight... see below) really nice DGA baskets adorn a beautiful little community park within view of the Niagara river, beckoning the beginning disc golfer to enjoy a quick round, with amenities and activities for the rest of the family to boot. The Veteran's memorial across the drive is classy, and there is a beautifully carved tree sculpture of an eagle just to the right of the ninth fairway.

The disc play is pretty basic, with eight holes consistently in the 150 to 200 foot range (the ninth is a 108' downhill putter ace run), and it's well-mapped for first timers to enjoy. The course even uses some of the park trees and slight elevation on the west end of the park to add just a touch of interest.

Cons:

The big 'however', is that it's pretty bland for anyone who has played a tournament caliber course. This Veterans course won't challenge even a recreational player, and would really only be beneficial for competitive players to work on their short game in a quick half hour or less.

The park and course map are oriented to the parking area between baskets 7 through 9 and the baseball field, so if you want to start with hole one, you might want to park on the south side lot (this probably was intentional, suggesting that the baseball folks take precedence, a little).

Tees are natural turf with toe boards, and there were posts (yellow painted metal, unadorned with signage) only at holes 1, 4, 5, 7 & 8, so the other tees take a little bit of searching out the first time you play. The 5th (ace run) basket was a single ring of chains portable, unlike the nice set the rest of the way. And I couldn't find the tee for hole six at all.

Other Thoughts:

Hey, if you like an ego boost, come pick up your deuces and an occasional ace here. Otherwise, I hope some of you City Slickers 'get' my review title ;)

Pros:

- Ace runs throughout
- Some small elevation in play
- Very little chance of lost discs
- Other than the safety concerns (which are greater with a beginner), this course is very beginner friendly.

Cons:

- Very short (avg under 200')
- Navigation was generally passable but could use some signage as some transitions aren't obvious.
- Natural tees
- A lot of safety concerns on several holes. Pavilions with picnickers, playgrounds, a few close to the road could all be in play.
- #6 was either moved and not updated on the map (and I couldn't find it) or it has been removed.

Other Thoughts:

This is the type of course I wish was right around the corner from my work. It'd be perfect for a quick putter only round to work on short game on the lunch hour. There isn't really anything special about it, just your typical short 9 working around the other activities in a suburban park.
