(3.078 Rating) A heavily wooded charming layout.
- SHOT SHAPING - Being able to move a disc along a well thought out line is going to be key to shoot low here. I'd say that the lines here match the accuracy requirements of the original layout or it goes a bit further. A couple lines border on the poke and hope territory. I personally did not like the line on (9) where the basket has been moved farther back than the tee post distance indicates, and it now has no clear discernible angle to basket.
- CHALLENGING - About average. Although throwing bombs is really not a requirement, being an accurate shot is, as noted above under shot shaping. Most Recreational players are probably capable of throwing below par, but some will post +10 as well. Advanced players will be a bit underwhelmed, but there's some good news. Back tees were flagged at many locations during my round so perhaps there is a permanent multi-tee upgrade in the works.
- TEES - Great 4 feet by 12 feet concrete pads tapering wider at the back. By far the best tees of the three courses at Veterans Park. 80 percent of the tees are well shaded too.
- NATURAL BEAUTY - Although I played during the colorless looking winter, it doesn't take a genius to realize that this fully wooded layout begins to pop during the spring. Most of this layout is cut entirely through hardwoods. There are also a few softwoods sprinkled in the layout as well. Hole (7) has what I think was a prominent cedar tree obstructing a large portion on the line to basket. Only one eyesore of note and it's substantial. There appears to be an abandoned metal bleacher along (4's) fairway.
- UNIQUENESS - For a flat course, I'd say the variety is halfway decent. Lots of tunnel shots cutting left and right, but also a couple straight plays. The twists and turns vary well too. There are long arcing plays, abrupt pocket to hit and a couple doglegs par 4s. Missing items include, no par 5, no water (except soon after heavy rains in the ditches) and no elevation (see cons)
- CHILL AREAS - Almost every hole on the course is secluded and it has an overall Zen feel. There are a few tee areas with seating and there's lots of shading.

Needs a bit more development but otherwise its solid.
- FORGIVENESS - Although short enough for novice and recreation players, for those that can't hit 10 to 15 foot lanes consistently, this course can become very self-defeating. In addition, regardless of skill level, players will hit trees several times out here. When there's a ricochet in the wrong direction, scrambling for par may take a miracle.
- CHARACTER - Other than nice large tees, (see Pros) and a course map, the rest of the niceties like those seen at established courses are missing or subpar. The Hole signage is just a yellow post with distance. There are no multi-tees, alternate basket placements or a practice basket. There are no restrooms or shelter on this side of the park either. The baskets are not my among favorite types, mach 3s, but they are in good condition. There are also a handful of holes with some really nice benches.
- ELEVATION - Unlike the nearby Original layout with its fifty foot hill, there's really none to speak of at Music Bend. No more than 5 feet of change on any one hole. Hole (3) has a raised basket placement. The course will be very good for the disc golf cart however.
- PARKING - Currently a gravel lot in an inefficient circular shape. I could see there being a parking shortage on a busy day.

A nice compliment to the Original and Thunderchief. Months later I'm still going back and forth on my favorite of the three course at Veterans. There are a bunch of things I like about Music Bend over the Original layout. But on the flipside, I absolutely loved the elevation on the Original. I guess my advice would be that a player in town should plan enough time to hit all three. Players that only have time to hit two, should play Music Bend and the Original. But for players that only got time for one, I'd suggest staying classic and stick with the Original.
- NAVIGATION - Not too bad. There's an updated map on DGCR and one posted on site. There are lots of seemingly intuitive paths from one hole to the next, but there are a lack of well-placed directional cues to help keep players on track between holes. The trickiest transition for me was getting to tee (1), but it's partly my fault. The course map is located at the beginning of a trailhead. Naturally I walked down the trail after snapping a photo in hopes to find the tee. After finding basket (1), I took a look at the map and realized I walked down the wrong path.
- TIME TO PLAY - Music Bend falls right in the middle in the time required to play. Figure about two hours for a group of four. A solo player on an empty course should be able to run it in 45 minutes to an hour.

Plenty of shots needed on this course. Good mix between forehand and backhanded with the latter slightly favored for righties. Plenty of birdies, but a whole lot of trouble for missing lines. Shaded during the summer and not much interference if any from non-golfers.

Course is pretty short with only one full drive (1). Could be merciless if you aren't hitting your lines.

I thoroughly enjoy this course. I prefer it over Veterans and Thunder Chief. Especially when the park experiences heavy traffic.

Course is very challenging but still fun. Good mix of some longer open holes and many tight wooded holes requiring placement and shot shaping. Each basket has a red painted direction arrow to the next tee. Tees are marked by yellow toped stakes and the navigation of the course is pretty easy to follow.

Only bench is on 18.
Natural tees are a little rough.
Course looks new still needs a little pruning and beat in.
No signage.
