Best option around 2+ years drive by

Pros:

It's a good course for a first exposure to disc golf. The holes aren't very challenging and the 9-hole layout is enough to hold a younger player's shorter attention span.

The tee signs are better than I've seen on most courses. The baskets aren't championship caliber but are passable for casual play.

Some of the baskets are tucked into smaller covers of foliage which can give a little bit of a challenge on an otherwise simple course.

Cons:

The concrete tee pads are extremely small. It isn't as much of an issue given that most holes don't require a huge run up if at all.

Course design-wise, there are holes where you can easily reach 2 or 3 baskets off the tee and it can be confusing if you've never played the course before. Also, there is an area where fairways cross which is never ideal.

The baskets aren't great, but they're functional.

Other Thoughts:

If you're passing through and want to get a very quick round in, this course will do it for you. It's not a destination course by any means, but it isn't intended as such either.

Pros:

I went here expecting very little, and so it slightly exceeded my expectations. The course design is about as much as you could do in this park, save for making more of the holes proper length. The baskets, though they look funny, are functionally just fine. There's some uphill/downhill shots incorporated. What little tree coverage there is in this park gets incorporated.

Cons:

The signs are misleading at times, I presume due to redesign. I'm afraid to say it's generally pretty boring golf on almost all of the 9 holes... very little coverage of the baskets, very little distance. Par 18 for a good player, you'll feel stupid taking a 3 on any of these holes.

Other Thoughts:

If you're driving between Edmonton and Calgary, and want a break, you could do worse than to venture off your path 10 minutes to rip through this twice to stretch the arm. Good course for young children getting into the game.

Best Option in Red Deer 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:May 15, 2016 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

- Nice signage though there have been a couple changes to course since signs went up which can be a little confusing for new players.

- Thee is an active Red Deer league and regular course usage if you're looking for other players to join up with. Check out Red Deer Disc Golf or Central Alberta Disc Golf on Facebook.

- Well laid out, enough elevation/obstacles/natural growth to make it an interesting short course.

- By far the best course in the Red Deer area.

Cons:

- Can be busy and full of large/slow groups at times, especially peak times on weekends. If you are a fast player be warned.

- Some holes (e.g. 1, 7) are ridiculously short, more of Par 2s than Par 3s.

- Tee boxes have been worn down and can be pretty slick at times, you're best to throw off side/back.

- Houses can definitely come into play, especially if you play the unofficial Back 9.

Other Thoughts:

- Not a very challenging course, other than the fact that the bowl layout makes it interesting for wind at times. A lot of the holes are very gettable for average/intermediate players.
