I'm all for growing the sport. I'm all for new, quality courses. And that's why I say this course shouldn't exist in any form.
- Bad layout. Bad location. Bad execution. Bad drainage. Otherwise, it's just a poor course.
- I played this two weeks after a minor hurricane skirted along the coast. The park was crazy flooded, which I attributed to the storm. After speaking to someone with knowledge on the course, flooding is a constant problem because IT'S BUILT IN A SWAMP. Not near a swamp. Not with raised paths above a swamp. No. In an actual swamp. Parts of the park have been inaccessible for the entire year because of flooding, poor drainage, and BEING A SWAMP.
- I was able to play a majority of the holes (6 of 9). Once I got flooded, I had to back track to the beginning. As such, I didn't get a sense of holes #5 - 7. A shame indeed.
- If you liking throwing on walking trails and paths, this is the course for you! If you like throwing on non-defined fairways with little work given to the course, this is the place for you.
- #4 was the first enjoyable hole. Sadly the deep water allowed me to complete the hole. Of the other holes I played, #8 was also enjoyable. And it had a split tree right in front of the basket as an added obstacle!
- You get some up close and personal views of the swamp. Sometimes it's at a distance, sometimes it's within a mater of feet, and sometimes you get to navigate through the water.
- You won't be fighting crowds to play this course. They've already learned their lesson.

Virtually everything. Do you want to play holes on the main path in the park? Everyone who uses the park is walking on the fairways of #1 and 2. Good luck throwing with other people around.
- Other holes seem as if the basket was simply placed somewhere, the tee marker was simply placed somewhere else, and the space in between became the fairway by default. If any work went into establishing the fairway on #3, that would be surprising. The fairway would have a hard time fitting two people side-by-side at times. Throw in some unnatural/awkward bends in the fairway and it's just not fun.
- #9 is essentially a gauntlet fairway between rows of trees. It would be acceptable if there was more maintenance and design put into this layout, maybe even a little cutting. Instead, it's a thankful end to the round.
- The park seems to be closed a lot and for extended periods of time. As such, it seems that attention to the course is limited. Perhaps that's a reason the course doesn't get enough work.
- I hope this course wasn't designed by a disc golfer.
- Navigation could be improved. For #3, I saw the tee sign, and thought I was continuing to play down the main path. Halfway down, I realized the fairway was actually at a 90-degree angle to the left. Because of course it would be.

After some exhaustive research, I've concluded that disc golf and swamps ARE NOT a good mixture. Disc golf in swamps is even worse. They should be kept separated. I'd be happy to present my findings to Waccamaw River Park.
- Not fun. Frustrating that this could exist as a course.
- Who is this course designed for? Too tough for beginners. Seemingly out of the way to draw much interest for advanced players.
- That said, if, and I mean IF, the fairways were widened, some trees were removed, and the awkward doglegs were softened, this course could be fun. It's as if the baskets were installed in the preliminary development phase, and everyone called it a day.
- There was a picnic table nearly completely submerged just past the parking lot. If the water is that deep, I don't see the course being playable anytime soon.
- Parks department had to know this place will have flooding issues. That why the amenities seem to be at a minimum. The park features a disc golf course, walking/bike trails, and that's pretty much it. Seems like there's a reason nothing permanent was installed.
- This course gets a low rating because of its seemingly never-ending flooding problem. On dry ground, with normal-sized fairways and a good design, this course would be an above-average nine-hole layout. It fails so much on so many levels, and that's the worst part of it all.
