Very rough drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 2, 2023 Played the course:once

Pros:

+ I think there's at least 9 holes, possibly 11

+ There are some fun heavily wooded lines here

+ The park is pretty. Spanish moss in the tree branches, and the stream along the outer perimeter of the course attracts some pretty birds.

+ There's a couple of porta potties and picnic benches to round out the amenities

Cons:

- No tee signs or signage at all, aside from a couple of 2" next tee arrows for one or two of the holes

- I could only find the tee pad for 3 or 4 holes. I found another 3-4 baskets and threw from where I thought a tee should be, but wasn't sure if I threw from the right spot

- Very short holes. Like 100-150' mostly.

- Very hot, very humid, and full of very persistant bugs.

- Confusing to navigate. Multiple paths at various points with little to no indication of which one to take.

- The posted course map doesn't seem to match up with the course layout. Either way the course map lists 9 holes while the site lists 11. I didn't even find 9 sets of tees and baskets so I'm not sure which is correct.

Other Thoughts:

I was excited to check out a new course with no reviews, photos etc. Sounded like a fun adventure.

I carefully studied the map and took a picture of it. I think I found #1 tee and basket pretty quick, then I followed the well defined path past the basket until I saw the next basket, then searched for the tee.

I kept trying to do that, but around 5 holes in it became difficult to figure out where to go. I found 3 paths with multiple branches off each, and eventually came across two tees 70' from a basket, leaving me clueless as to how to proceed.

Off to the side of those tees and basket, I saw what looked like a perfectly manicured fairway with a mature guardian tree about 250' back and to the right, for a classic rhbh hyzer shot. Only there wasn't a basket.

I gave up. I saw one or two more baskets along some orderly rows of pines on my way out.

All in all I feel confident saying I found maybe 5 complete holes, tees and all. The rest was a crapshoot to the point I couldn't even tell you how many holes are here.

Maybe I'll try again. The lines I threw were fun, if extremely short.
