Vacation Stop #4 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 3, 2018 Played the course:once

Pros:

+Well maintained course. Grass was cut.
+Signs at each hole provide a clear image of the entire course map, yardage to current hole, and par.
+Quick play

Cons:

-Goose poop everywhere.
-There are no tee pads, and the signs are not orientated towards the basket. No "next tee" markers in basket of prior hole.

Other Thoughts:

Holes 1 through 3 are very open, no obstacles. Long holes all par 3, nothing over 400 feet.

Hole 4 has a line of trees that shouldn't but can come into play, mainly just like the first 3 holes.

Hole 5 begins some tree play. Throw through a line of trees to start. Basket sees first elevation change, nothing more than 30 feet from tee to basket. Basket is tucked into a nice setting of trees. Easy lines from all sides of basket. Par 3, less than 400 feet.

Far walk between 5 and 6.

6,7,and 8 are bordered on the right by some brush, making a nice border that the rest of the holes lack. 6 starts an onslaught of par 4 and 5, 400-700 feet holes. Most of them are reachable for a birdie if you have the right tools (disc and power.)

8 is also bordered by the road. There was no traffic on the Friday I went, but could pose a safety hazard while school is in session.

8 is an absolute bomb of a hole, that, personally I think is too far. The first 705 feet hole I have ever seen, and hope to ever see again. Playable, birdie and maybe eagle-able, but such a long hole for an already long course.

Hole 9 is just a longer version of 1-3, just bordered by road and building.

Nothing here should provide a problem to the player. In fact, most of this should just be a breeze that only punishes bad play. Nothing hard except the continous yard after yard of the back 6.

Some concrete or gravel tee pads could really up the overall play here. At the very least some "next tee" signs could be hung on the bottom of the baskets, or turn the signs to face where the basket is.

Great use of space by the designer, and a good leisure course. Not worth going out of the way for if you're looking for challenge, but a good stroll and practice course for a regular player.

Distance...Distance...and DISTANCE 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 20, 2014 Played the course:once

Pros:

-Great baskets, new and well up-kept
-Good signage and made it a little easier to follow the course except for the LONG walk between 5 and 9.
-Tons of parking on a college campus

Cons:

-One of if not the most repetitive courses I have ever played, each hole bring out your big gun and rip it.
-No tee pads
-Some unreasonably long holes, where I believe it was one of the last holes was marked a par 5. This in my mind either means a very technical 700+ ft hole or at least 900 ft more open shot this was around 800ft which was pretty easily reached in 3 for most of the group with me.
-Long walk back from 9 to 1 if this is where you parked.

Other Thoughts:

-Park in the middle of the parking lot instead of near 1, it will save you the trek at the end.
-If I lived in the area I would play this course on very windy days to see how I would handle my distance and all around game in those situations
-Decent and well kept and mowed

Driving Range! 2+ years

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Dec 30, 2013 Played the course:once

Pros:

Great way to practice your drive... but thats about it. Good recreation for people attending the Walters State College. Close to 2 other 9 hole courses which is good for a day road trip.

Cons:

Basically no diversity on this course. Walking distance between holes 5 and 6 is too long but I understand they used what land they had. If you park near hole 1 you have a long walk back to your car when you finish at 9.

Other Thoughts:

Not a course that you want to go out of your way to play. If you are in town for the weekend its worth a stop in but dont drive a long distance just for this course. Basically a practice course. Holes 1-4 are completely open. Hole #5 basket is located in a small patch of trees. Holes 6-7 basically follow a tree line but if you have good acuracy driving, you have no chance of going in the woods. Holes 7 and 8 are parallel with a body of water in the woods but chances of hitting it are low unless you have a hard turn on your drive.
