Pros:
Lake Charles has baskets. If you come for the entertainment, you still have an option to play disc golf, I know the casinos wish you wouldn't though (you might not want to either)
The course for the most part is easy to navigate. It plays like a figure 8 around the three baseball fields in the park. There are tee signs with a colorful map and (mostly wrong) distances.
Hole 4 is the best hole on the course. It has a single tree as an obstacles, something the other holes can't say and it is short. I guess the baseball fields can be treated as OB, which adds a little bit of more difficulty to the course, which lacks it.
Cons:
Besides my own skill and the wind, there are virtually no obstacles on the course. I have yet to play a course near baseball fields that has made good holes within the baseball fields, and Ward 3 might be the worst I have seen it done.
The holes are long, which normally might not be a huge con, but the longer the holes are, the more time you have to spend on the course, and I did not want to spend that much time on the course.
It actually is fairly hard to get to the course as its a 15 mile detour off of I-10.
Other Thoughts:
NOTE: When searching the course on a map app, be sure to put the address and do not put in Ward 3 Rec Center, otherwise you will be sent to the wrong place. I know from experience. If you did not see the airport driving to the park, you probably went to the wrong park.
Being the only course in Lake Charles, it may be worth seeing if you are staying in the area. It should not be played as a way to stretch your legs off of I-10 because of its distance from the highway and slow play.
