Worth Playing if You're There 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Sep 21, 2009 Played the course:once

Pros:

-The only course in a couple hundred mile radius
-Beautiful desert setting
-brand new disc catchers
-decent layout and hole designs
-plenty of birdie oppurtunities

Cons:

-Course is covered by low brush, which makes finding discs and tees difficult.
-almost all holes are medium/short

Other Thoughts:

I only played this course once (two rounds back-to-back). It's not a bad little course, but can be difficult to navigate. Each basket has an arrow hanging from the bottom pointing you in the general direction of the next tee, but the tees are just an outline of peeler core, and being virtually flat are hard to see with all the low brush. Tees are natural, but flat and generally good, with hole numbers on them. It took quite a while to find a couple of them.
There are some mild elevation changes, and topography is used effectively on many holes. The first 5 or 6 holes are mostly wide open, with a few low trees, the elevation changes, and the low brush, but a couple of the later holes are up in the trees and a little flatter. Hole 9 is the only one that could be called long.
As the first course in the area I think it's great. If the game takes off up there they have plenty of nice course locations, including this one if they want to add on. Once the local level of play evolves, adding another, longer 9 holes here would be awesome.
Definitely worth playing for an avid disc golfer passing through town.
